When our 1960 Canadian Bill of Rights (not the commie Trudeau Sr. Charter) was written by Christian Europeans, 'freedom of religion' meant Christianity.
You know why? Because back then Canada was nearly 96% white/Christian.

“was nearly 96% white/Christian.”
But not 100%. So they HAD heard of other religions. And chose not to exclude them.
And I’m not sure what part race plays in this… You think whites can only be Christains?
They might have a bit more of a case than they would with the US Constitution, if for no reason other than it includes the words “the Canadian Nation is founded upon principles that acknowledge the supremacy of God”. However, given that it also says “shall continue to exist without discrimination by reason of […] religion” means that religion is one of the protected categories against discrimination, and you’d have to argue that only Christianity counts as a religion.
In addition, the current religious demographics is, according to the most recent Canadian Census, 63.2% Christian. If there was anything to that argument back then, it’s a weaker point now.
So you’re saying, essentially, that because Canada was mostly Christians back then (and white Christians at that, though I’m not sure what that has to do with anything), it was a good thing that (supposedly) only Christianity was protected by law? I’ll have to disagree with that, most emphatically.
This reminded me of an explanation for Scandinavian fairy tale trolls declaring they smell 'Christian blood': back when these tales originated centuries ago, most of the population were non-scholars, primarily subsistence farmers. They had very little, if any, knowledge of non-Christian religions, so to them Christian was synonymous with human .
Bigotry normalization and institutionalization apology, paranoid style, red scare... Terminology redefinition and confusion. Denial that even before Canada was founded there were people there before and during colonization... To stupids like this, those people don't deserve to exist, apparently.
“When we said ’cookies for everyone,’ we clearly meant ‘cookies just for us! Nobody else gets any cookies!’ How did you not get that right away, it seems pretty obvious that we're assholes!”
Va te faire foutre, connard.
Canada
Even the country south of that border had Muslims as far back as the mid-19 th Century.
The First Nations peoples of yours would like a word with you, OP.
