Polio was a catch all that got blamed for all of the pollutants of the post industrial revolution such as heavy metals, pesticides, etc.. The polio vaccine never cured or prevented anything and it actually made people ill in many cases.
At the same time the polio vaccine was rolled out there was a silent recall and retraction in the use of DDT, lead arsenate, Paris green and a number of other toxins. Polio was never cured. It was reclassified based on the symptoms.
We only treat symptoms and we never solve anything. We treat the body as individualized parts instead of as a whole the way they do in eastern medicine.

Traditional Chinese Medicine was far more advanced than Western medicine but it is also very cheap so any country that loves money more than people will get rid of real medicine like they did to natural medicine in the US.

New theories are seldom proposed, and old concepts are rarely modified or discarded in light of new “discoveries,” since pseudoscience rarely makes new “discoveries.”
Exhibit A: Freudianism.

And as we all know, correlation = causation.

...the only ones stopping you from using herbs - thus a Nobel Prize is yours for the asking - to regenerate a missing limb, thus proving modern science, especially the likes of Kevin Warwick who is a Professor of Cybernetics wrong: is you .
We'll wait.
First, you might notice all polio sufferers have, in their bodies, and especially the muscle tissues, presence of the germ.
Second, the only reason why TCM appears efficient is that criticism is banned by law while TCM itself is promoted by the state.
How astonishing, then, that the
1971-72 polio epidemic in Trinidad ended once everybody was vaccinated. I saw that with my own eyes.
Or that polio has been wiped out in India since 2011 after a nationwide vaccine campaign, while it still plagues Pakistan and Afghanistan where terrorists and fundamentalists interfere with vaccination efforts.
I only wish anti-vaxxers could choke to death on their own lies and spare the rest of us.
Polio was a catch all
It's not impossible that when it first was discovered some people pushed all kinds of nonsense about it, just like you're still doing. But no, it's caused by an infection by an actual virus. But some people are still rejecting the germ theory of disease as well and other aspects of reality. As a result, you, and the community that radicalized you against reality, are actually more vulnerable to disease.
Traditional Chinese Medicine was far more advanced than Western medicine
And when was this ever true? Possibly before the actual development of evidence based scientific medicine in the West, like when they'd bleed people and use cups and drink strong alcohol to cure disease? There is no comparison to make today, one system is pseudoscientific as well as religious, the other is evidence based and has made enormous progress that is still going on.

Good point, I'm only adding: it's also common for flawed human brains to make causation misattributions, while the body is often healing or recovering from temporary pains or conditions (helped by medicine or not). Thus, return to the mean, when feeling better often occurs and someone may easily claim that what they ate, drank or did just before somehow helped, even if it's completely unrelated. Human memory is also unreliable: how many people have you heard saying that they're never sick, when you clearly know that they were, even only last year?
So the scientific method attempts to take these human weaknesses in consideration, to detect and correct confirmation bias, wishthinking, conflict of interest, misattributions... including using double blind experiments, trials, replication, etc.
Yeah, you wanna cure diabetes with some fire cupping? Maybe take some mercury pills for your hayfever? Go right the monkey-fuck ahead, sweetheart. The rest of us will use real medicine to solve our issues, thankyewverrymush. And when you go nanners from the mercury or slip into a diabetic coma because giving yourself cup-hickies isn't solving anything, we'll try so very hard not to laugh. Too loudly.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
