Way of the World, we can also find photos of happy family picknicks today, too, from quite a lot of places. Cherrypicking mementos of joyful occasions is a terrible way to judge an era, for they, as the moments people selected for nostalgia , are by their very nature nonārepresentative, indeed, anti-representative. It says nothing of how rare these occasions may have been, how unpleasant life may have been outside these moments, how few people may have gotten to enjoy such joys, what hidden horrors may lurk just outside this one little slice of time and space.

Right - when it has to do with light, white is the presence of all color and black is the presence of no color. But when it has to do with things like paint or skin pigment, white is the presence of little to no color and black is the presence of all color.
