Fentanyl is a big fuckin problem for North American drug users but you won’t curb shit by denying asylum to refugees and migrants showing up on your border. I know that, the gov knows that and in the end YOU know that too but want to use the current narcotics issue to deny a chance at life to fuck knows how many innocent people.
In short, dealers cut with this shit without any sort of rhyme or reason and do it a LOT and with just about any illicit stuff they got. Honestly, dunno if CIA actually would send a mega-kill-squad to El Chapos own house and dragged his bloodied corpse out through the streets of Mexico city, would it change anything with fentanyl, it is simply hyper convienient for the gross, lil fries selling all sorts of hard drugs to the desperate… Of course legalization works well to take care of this particular menace and truth be told, it’s the only thing that does. Here, up north, since the grass is both greener and street legal, you won’t find any spiked version of it, unless you’re a literal fool who still gets his from a “behind the library” dealer for some unknown reason.
The street peddler does, as he does, because he wants to carve out as much profit, as he possibly can for his shit, he cares crap all for whether you live or die afterwards and in any larger N. American city, he is the proverbial legion, where the coppers put one away, another shall quickly spring forth and since they are already the dregs of the illegal parts of society, there is no going through their conscience.
Now, a legally operating pot store can and of course will be held accountable for any and all sudden fatalities their stuff caused, that is obvious, of course so we got the relentless quality and purity testing instead. Nothing more needs be said for the grass, after all we know the story well: We legalized it and then everyone was WAY better off for it(even visibly reduced drinking is some provinces, mine included) but, after all, grass is the least susceptible one for the spiking, in most popular forms, anyway.
The real issue are the hard drugs, which on baseline and with some basic purity still require cautious use and going at them with your head in the game AND sadly are also both much easier, as well as common to be spiked with fentanyl, they are also much more controversial to your everyday idiot joe, so any thoughts of pushing the dealers out through legalization, even in canuckland are rather distant and whimsical dreams for now. For the truly desperate, there should always be the overseen consumption sites, but as these are also deemed controversial, lots of cities are trying to reduce their already small numbers, which always coincides with the OD fatality increase across the board.
But what of the casual and functioning users of such hard drugs(excluding opiates, prolonged opiates consumption will always lead you either to a supervised place or your grave), what are they to do? In the current climate and society, the answer is sadly: Not much. You can know your dealer more personally and have SOME guarantee your stuff ain’t spiked with the harmful shit, you can course roll the dice and see where that takes you but this is exactly how the death toll wind up so nasty in the first place. Finally, you can start working as an activist for change but as previously written, not even in Canada are we looking at stuff like that for now, the pipeline of legalization starts with grass, if we are lucky pretty soon we may see psylocibes and couple other shroom varieties finally free out of the shackles of the abrahamic puritanism but from there it is still probably not less than a decade for anybody will bring up seriously legalizing coke for example(would also literally KILL the cartel influence in your given country but somehow that is never a pro people mention)…
Till such time, we can only abstain or roll the dice(maybe with some good/bad modifiers depending on where and from whom) or, as always “just” be real rich and have your specialized people for getting you the good, quality stuff right from where it’s made. This has been Skidz, giving you the what’s what and heads up on the current narcotics crisis in North America with nothing but firsthand scoops!
