“Everyone’s turned on him after yesterday,” one Telegram poster wrote. “Trump is master at this, weeding out the rats… just watch.”

Others went deeper down the conspiracy rabbithole. “It was a DARPA bioweapon made in 2012...it was the military not Trump who made it. He had it released early so they couldn’t keep us locked down until 2030 while they killed us with other viruses.”

I won’t speak for people who don’t have arms or legs, but I don’t think being autistic is purely a lack of an ability. It’s more the brains processes some forms f information differently which creates it’s own strengths and weaknesses.

Well if you would like a cure that is up to you, however most autistic people do not want one in my experience and think society should accept that we have the right to just be different and see the issue as being like “curing” people of being gay. Additionally the scientific consensus is that autism is mostly genetic and inborn and can’t be cured anyway making efforts to find one a waste of time.

I do not know you and can’t speak for your experiences, but in general I think it is best for us to accept ourselves as we are then long to be something we are not.

Basically in recent years scientists have been learning that the bacteria in our guts that digest our food might have much bigger effects on the rest of the body then we used to think and even be able of communicating with the brain. And that’s it’s possibly that changing the bacteria in our guts might effect your overall health. The science is in it’s early days and we don’t know a lot yet. But a lot of quacks are jumping all over it to make wild claims way beyond the evidence that autism is caused by having the wrong bacteria in your guts and if you make autistic people swallow get an enema of the poop of an NT person the “good” bacteria will cure them. There is no evidence for this, a serious risk of infecting people and you should be trying to cure autism anyway but that won’t stop ableist bigots.

It isn’t but the BBC isn’t just interviewing people, they’ve been promoting and giving undeserved credit to liars and bigots as if they were legitimate (sort of like having a debate on global warming between a climate scientist and some guy with mail order degree from Conservative Tech like they are equally qualified). One incident for example was this guy who calls himself Count Dankula who made a viral video where he trained his dog to give a Nazi salute when he said “Seig Heil” or “Gas the jews”. And the BBC decide to put him on their opinion shows and only backed down after a huge backlash.

The quote above is defending that sort of thing because all that matters is being “unbiased” even about the shape of the earth.

The problem with this kind of satire is that there is no limit to human stupidity. The Flat Earth society website was created as a similar kind of joke, but then a bunch of people who want to believe conspiracies started to believe it for real. Same with the conspiracy theory about the freemasons being satanists, it was started by a guy named Leo Taxil as a joke to make fun of right wing christias who believe that sort of thing only for them to start believing it for real. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxil_hoax
