“You think atheists are more rational?”
I believe most atheists take a rational path to their atheism. Unlike everyone who believes what they were taught to believe from birth…
“I think atheists are making irrational choices:”
Are the choices irrational, or do you just reject the information that leads to their choice?
“Atheists choose to believe life sprung out of nothing. We can’t even create life in science lab from nothing.”
No, see, we don’t believe ‘sprang from nothing.’ That’s you misstating the logic of our choices to make it sound illogical.
“Atheists choose to believe the perfect temperature, the balance of seasons, and the gravitational pull of this earth are all coincidence.”
ANd that’s a load of horsie poopies. We, as the human race you recognize, would not evolve to live on a planet where we needed a lesser gravity or greater temperature range. On a different planet, we’d have evolved to different requirements.
“When hearing of people telling of meeting others in heaven briefly in a near-death experience, atheists choose to believe all those people are lying— in a similar manner— even children.”
Lying isn’t the word. But they are reporting their experiences when their brain was not fully functional. And there’s no real way to date-stamp the experience. Was it as they died, while dead, or while they were coming back?
“Your question says atheists are rational, but here, they forget the definition of all.”
You’re skewing the question. I’m okay with fallen Christains asking for forgiveness, It’s when Bakker, Swaggart, Hovind any number of Christain authorities rail against illicit sex or homosexuality or how their taxes are spent on schools, but turn out to be entirely fucking hypocrites.
“I find it irrational that atheists can believe history while reading a history book (granted, they likely have an open mind while reading this), yet, they don’t spend time reading the Gospel”
Because anonymous tales aren’t usually useful for history purposes. And most of the Bible accounts are of unknown author, written at an unknown time, for unknown reasons. It’s quite rational to NOT accept those as history.
“Shouldn’t a rational person accept accounts of Genghis Khan and Jesus with similar respect for historical records?”
Exactly. YOU do not. You think the book of Matthew was written by Matthew.
