I would say there’s a difference between responding to someone yelling, “Help! I’m drowning!” and “Save me so i can go murder a doctor!” One’s responsibility to the eventual murder would be different if you had NO WAY OF KNOWING the consequences of your action.

For example, if i save a stranger and then escort a stranger to his execution, it doesn’t really matter if they’re the same person. Those are two unconnected events.

But if i rescue someone I know to be intending murder, then I’m complicit in the murder.
The other option is to let people drown out of a fear they MIGHT go murder someone later…
