I disagree on the high-speed train thing. Even a layman with no technical qualification could tell it would never have worked, and was probably just a publicity stunt. A rival of Musk who was serious about building a high-speed train would simply hire designers and planners with a better idea of what they were doing.

Musk has pretty much admitted that his entire fascist thing happened because his daughter came out as trans, though the daughter (Vivian) disputes this and has said it’s unfair to put it all on her.

I do agree that a major power in porn is the taboo. Whether anyone else knows it or not, you’re looking at anal or interracial or loli and get an additional thrill out of it.
This might be a motivation for some dating, but in that case you WANT someone to know that you’re crossing a line. You’re trying to make your father have a heart attack or your mother need smelling salts or your coworkers freak.
But the numbers of interracial marriage are too big to simply be performative art. The taboo element goes away if your parents don’t really care. If your friends are liberals. if your coworkers are open minded.
I started dating a woman because we had similar thoughts, desires, interests. And I went almost two years without mentioning her race to my parents.

I think I’ve said this before more than a few times, but “cis” and “trans” are perfectly legit prefixes that mean exactly what we’re using them for in the case of gender. “Cis” means “on the same side of” while “trans” means “on the other side of”. The Romans called Gaul on their side of the Alps “Cisalpine Gaul” while Gaul on the other side of the Alps was “Transalpine Gaul”. (though they would have used the Latin equivalent of those phrases of course)

“Cisgender” (or “cis” for short) was orignially as an outgroup label, but in the decades since then, it’s also become a clinical gender-related category, and is even used by some people as an identity label. If it’s a form of “propaganda”, then it’s both unintentional and highly successful. (Is intentionality necessary for something to be propaganda?) Outgroup labels (usually) aren’t meant to be used outside of ingroup discussion, and when widely used that way it sometimes becomes a slur, though not always. That didn’t happen here.

I have noticed that the people who are the most uncomfortable with outgroup labels which apply to them are usually the same ones who have no issues with using slurs against other people (because other people are not them). Or at least their only issue is that they’d get shunned by polite company for using them.

I will point out that the silicon dioxide in question is just glass, and isn’t the reflecting surface of the mirror. Originally it was made of silver, today it’s most commonly made of aluminum, but regardless, the slightest mar can easily ruin it, which is why we protect it by covering it with glass. Yes, quartz (the most common form of crystal used in crystal balls) is also silicon dioxide - but quartz is a crystal, and the mystical properties of a crystal ball supposedly comes from the fact that it is a *crystal*, while glass is an amorphous solid. So the OP fails at mysticism even before we get to the “you fail physics forever” parts.
