Postulating that MAYBE there was a time when physics did not operate the way we know it to operate isn’t even intriguing it’s just a desperate attempt to save a stupid idea. It doesn’t change the ‘everything we know about physics’ argument unless and until you actually show that there is something we don’t know about physics which would allow a water canopy.

Evolution is a change in the frequency of certain parts of DNA in succeeding generations.
So, imagine that the human gene pool spins out a particularly lethal gene sequence about .01% of the time. That means .01% of the population dies every generation from that gene sequence. They don’t live to pass on the trait.
Then we find a cure for that condition. it’s no longer lethal.
People with that condition will more likely live long enough to pass it on.
It will increase in future generations BECAUSE we’re no longer subject to natural selection in that case. And the gene pool evolves.
