And any ice that the atmosphere didn’t turn to supersaturated steam by the intense heat of reentry ALSO didn’t vaporize on impact.
It stayed ICE through temperatures at LEAST 1,830 degrees Fahrenheit on the way down, with up to 4,298 degrees Fahrenheit on impact. Yes. Just like throwing a bag of ice into a wading pool, sure.
