This whole issue is illustrative of the fact that people will not take a step back and consider things rationally.
You would hope an MTF transsexual who happened to have an unfair advantage over her peers would stand down and not compete… but that isn’t always going to happen.
You would hope that such a person would none the less be respected as a person, but that’s not going to happen either.
You would hope that a professional approaching the issue would consider mitigating circumstances or use a case-by-case basis (like, did this happen before puberty? Was it a full case of transitioning or a smaller correction of one of nature’s errors?) but without being unduly intrusive? But no, that’s not going to happen either.
You would hope that a self-proclaimed ‘feminist’ would understand that the issue is not about censoring women, why indeed that “no one fucking cares if natal girls play on boys' teams” and not come out with blatant falsehoods like “prepubescent boys have a notable throwing advantage over grown women”. But of course that’s not going to happen. Some radfems have entire blogs dedicated to how dreadful transsexuals supposedly are. They’re not going to shut up.
And yes, I’m extremely wary of allowing MTF transsexuals in women’s sports, purely in the interests of fairness. But blanket bans are not the way to go about things, nor are intrusive testing procedures, and while I haven’t heard about this ban, the fact of it coming from Mississippi of all states makes me rather suspicious.
