Since there is no mainstream consensus about the Russia/Ukraine conflict, it’s impossible to suppress anything that goes against it. Hell, tRump himself has changed positions on it within the last six months, and MAGA hasn’t developed a consensus about it either.

Anyway, thanks to Wesley Todd and Joel Webbon for volunteering to be the ultimate arbiters of what should and shouldn’t be allowed on the internet (and presumably all other forms of communication as well). It’s got to be a more-than-fulltime job wading through all that perversion and subversion to make sure everyone else remains unsullied, and you deserve full accolades for being willing to subject yourself to it.

When I was in school in the late 1950s/early 1960s, we had to recite the Pledge of Allegiance every morning. All of us could recite it by rote, none of us paid any attention to what it meant. I can’t help but notice that none of tRump’s supporters are saying he didn’t commit the crimes, just that the justice system was crooked. Nothing about why his defense team didn’t provide any evidence to show that he was actually innocent, when they had every opportunity to do so. Just as in all his other indictments, an innocent person wants a fast trial to prove it, they don’t spend all their legal arguments delaying the trial. Innocent people are also more likely to testify in their own defense, instead of saying they couldn’t testify because the prosecution “would bring up everything they ever did,” essentially admitting that they had committed crimes in the past.

Robert Heinlein (or at least his book Starship Troopers) argued that only military veterans should be able to vote, because they’ve demonstrated their concern for the welfare of society over the individual. I would argue that the same could be applied to parents, since they would (should?) be more concerned about the future for their children. Certainly elements over which one has no control (gender, race) should not determine whether or not one is able to participate in government.

Like the mansions and private planes that televangelists insist they need. Like the distaste so many conservative have for feeding the poor, healing the sick and homeless. The number of priests, ministers and other “christians” who sexually abuse others of their generation.

I’m reminded of the Lenny Bruce bit where Jesus and Moses show up at a service in New York’s St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and the priest panics on the phone to Rome.

Well, it’s the fault of Christians that Jews are so prominent in the banking industry. For most of the Middle Ages and beyond, the Church did not allow Christians to charge interest on loans. Genesis is Old Testament, not Christian.

I always get a kick out of the fundie claim that God changed humans at some point: after Eve’s “sin” God changed her anatomy so that childbirth would be painful and difficult; at some point after Adam and Eve, God changed humans so that incest became a genetic problem; after Noah, God changed humans so they could eat meat.

Evidently God’s creation of man in His image, after His likeness, needed a few upgrades in the early days.

Only fascist dictators threaten those who disagree with them. Nice to clarify where you stand, though.
