You want China not to invade Taiwan? Here’s something we can do: the NRA can open its branch next time in Taiwan. You want to stop Xi Jinping from invading Taiwan? Put a gun in every Taiwanese household and have them defend themselves. Let’s see what Xi Jinping does then. That is what it means to be an actual American.

Yeah, I think the Taiwanese are doing just fine without such “exceptionalism”.
Yeah, wars don’t work that way. If China is gonna invade Taiwan, do you really think if they’d found that every house in Taiwan has a gun (presumably just one, and what kind of gun even?), they’d say “oh, no, we better not do that then, the biggest military on the planet in terms of active personnel won’t stand a chance?”
Taiwan isn’t a part of America. It’s its own country.
If America did give every Taiwanese household guns, China would invade immediately. The Chinese government has never been afraid of sending its own people to their deaths to fulfill its whims.
Every Confederate had guns a couple of centuries ago.

I don't see more guns solving our domestic problems: homelessness, drug use, inflation, covid-19, racism, etc. etc.

Oh no, not…hand guns and rifles! Surely that shall deter the all-consuming war machine that is China's military! Everyone knows that nukes and bomber planes are afraid of guns!
These people need to watch that episode of TNG where Data tries to convince the colonists to leave or be wiped out by an alien race that won't even bother to land their ships to kill them. Giving Taiwan a Colorado Smorgasbord isn't going to save them, they'll just die holding their guns, having never seen the forces that killed them, while China just firebombs the island into oblivion.
