Hey, you know why people got married so young in the past?
Of course you don't.
It had nothing to do with "marriage freshness" or beauty.
It's because the average lifespan was about 35. If you made it to your teenage years you had a decent chance of getting to middle age, but by the time you hit 50 you might not be able to care for young kids. So you had to start early.
And so many women died in childbirth that families started young. If a woman died, the guy could remarry and try again - or at least get a stepmother for kids he already had.
With average lifespan approaching 80, women having kids at 50, and low infant and maternal mortality, none of those things are major issues anymore.
