Here's something you dolts don't seem to be able to grasp - an abortion isn't a punishment. The point isn't to punish the child for the sins of the father, or to punish the child instead of the rapist, the point of it is that no one should have to go through with a pregnancy and be forced to raise a child they did not want, and had no say in creating!
If a rape victim wants to kill her baby who has been born (say, because she was extremely traumatised and this was the first opportunity she had to safely do so), would that be wrong? What, if anything, is different when the baby is unborn?
Well, for starters, there is no such thing as an "unborn baby". Flushing out a fertilized egg is very differemt from murdering an actual child. Once it is born, that's now a sentient being that experiences pain and is a human being in its own right. It is therefore wrong to kill it. Of course, I would also consider it a henious crime both to the pregnant person and the child to force anyone to birth a child they don't want and have every intention of killing once people's backs are turned.
Everyone would start claiming rape to get out of an unwanted pregnancy post-Dobbs.
And you seem very fucking quick to dismiss all rape as "women lying". Why oh why, I wonder?
Also an example- does a 30 year old person that was conceived by rape have no right to life? What is the difference between that 30 year old and an unborn child besides their age? They have the same rights.
The 30-year old was born (whether their mother had any choice in the matter or not) and is living their own life. Their mother doesn't even need to be around for them to live anymore. Thus, this person is not anything that is inside of or influencing her body in any way and they have the same right to live as all living, breathing humans do. Does the raped woman not have the right to move on from her trauma?
