“How will Atheism be remembered?”
Dude, as long as there are at least two takes on religion (multiple religions, or multiple sects in one religion) there’s going to be atheism.
Until a god, or a pantheon of gods, come down and convince everyone they’re real, the arguments are going to fail with someone.
“The year is 2095 and a journalist is writing an obituary
for Atheism: Do you think it would be written as such?”
No.
"Atheism was a pseudo-rational philosophy that grew in favor in the late 19th century, peaking in the early part of the 21st.”
Yes, yes, because your evidence is just constantly improving….
“It came to be associated with the now defunct Darwinist explanation of life and Marxism.”
Wow, painting with a wide fucking brush, huh?
Neither evolution nor Marxism require atheism. The association is only in the minds of the dumber theists.
“From then on, it steadily declined until a point in the mid 21st century where it was no longer taken seriously in public and scientific discourse.”
Why would atheism be in scientific discourse? Oh! Because you couldn’t define ‘secular’ if someone shoved a dictionary up your ass.
“The central tenet of Atheism was that there was no Intelligent Originator of the universe and life.”
No. Atheism means we don’t believe in gods.
We don’t believe in the creator gods, or the lawgiver gods, or the gods of death, or the gods of life, or the gods of wine.
This isn’t an obituary, it’s a self-congratulating sermon.
"It postulated the notion that everything came about
purely by chance.”
Doesn’t YOUR god hate lying liars?
“It took an antagonistic and condescending view of Religion and religious freedom.”
Stopping you from using religion to discriminate is favoring religious freedom, not antagonistic.
“Morally, Atheism was nihilistic in nature rejecting any core or absolute values and denying the existence of good and evil.”
I hope this reporter gets sacked for this article. It’s just full of strawmen.
