We transition because we actually feel like women on the inside. We have female instincts and we are most comfortable living life as women. No we don't. If any trans woman goes overboard with cutesy girly feminine crap it's probably just because she never had a chance to experience that sort of thing before coming out as trans. Well, first of all, not every straight trans women wants to be totally stealth. Personally, I'd prefer to get to a state where everyone's first impression of me is that I'm a "normal" woman. And I don't want to give them a second impression. But that's less about not wanting people to know I'm trans and more about feeling an affinity towards expressing myself in ways that are considered conventionally feminine. Also, I prefer to think of myself as a woman first. I happen to be trans but I think if there was no transphobia that would be something I never really thought about.
Here's the thing, you say a woman like me should dislike trans activism because it draws attention to us, but I support transgender activism drawing attention to transgender people and our struggles. I want to be accepted regardless of whether people know I'm trans and living a life of forced invisibility is a form of oppression.
