Why would greater social programs hurt you? No one’s forcing you to use them and paying taxes is your civic duty. The Federal Income Tax is meant to be adjusted based on income so you won’t be taxed so much that you starve. Those taxes also pay the salaries of folks you like like cops and soldiers as well as other public servants as well as infrastructure.
The 1% need to pay their fair share and if they did we probably wouldn’t even have to raise them that much for you.
I understand that you hate paying taxes, we all do. However, taxes benefit you in the long run.
Finally; Public Assistance and other social programs are not meant to replace work. They’re a helping hand! The Poor work their butts off and often with multiple jobs just to survive! Many can’t even find a job even though they try! Some are unable to work!
Paying slightly higher taxes to beef up the social safety net is not being forced to give your money to lazy ingrates.

Regulations, taxes, the super-wealthy paying their taxes like the rest of us, etc. is good for the country. Small businesses deserve a head start without some big business stifling them. CEOs often need to be forced to do the right thing because they tend to see money like Heroin. I refuse to breathe stinky cancerous air, eat E.coli-meat, drink lead-water and live in a landfill!
