If you cut through the jargon and legalese, the Death of Democracy Act would mandate mail-in balloting in all states, strip voter ID laws in 35 states, remove the ability for states to manage their own voting rolls, and register non-citizens to vote.
1. Mail-in Ballots: It would not mandate mail-in voting. It just makes it easier for those who wish to do so, including removing the rules from states that require you to have a specific reason to be allowed to vote by mail.
2. Voter IDs: The voter ID laws are there mainly to block citizens who the right doesn’t like and are afraid of from voting.
3. Voter rolls: It doesn’t take away states’ ability to manage their own voter rolls, it makes it so states have to follow certain restrictions, specifically that they have to notify those who have been removed from the rolls.
4. ”Non-citizens” voting: This is technically true, if you consider that the right thinks of POC, PWD, women, and anyone who isn’t Protestant as non-citizens.
Not stopping there, the bill would create a commission of unelected federal officials called the "Commission to Protect Democrat Institutions." If that title reminds you of old-fashioned Communist speak you’d be right, the commission will have the power require judges to testify regarding the rulings they issue.
The only place I’ve been able find mention of this is from the Heritage Foundation, and considering it’s made of most of the rest of its criticisms of HR 1, I call bullshit.
And speaking of intimidation and harassment, the favorite tools of persuasion for the Left, the bill would also force some non-profits to publish the identities of their donors, subjecting private citizens to the machinations of Cancel Culture and the blacklisting mob.
People have the right to not support those who are actively harming them.
We know what you really want: to go back to a time when only white men could vote. It’s not that you care about the country or the people in it, you just want to always get your way.
