Even more to the point, there are forms of naturism that are explicitly Christian. One part a view that clothing obscures something God never wished to be obscured in the first place (and not because he’d be unable to satisfy a sexuality he doesn’t have to begin with), one part a view that seeing naked people as a matter of course effectively inures the viewers, meaning that they won’t regard nudity as intrinsically sexual. (I wonder if there’s an unwitting idea to coax them from typical sexuality to demisexuality?)
I wait to see what Stewart thinks of Michelangelo’s painting of the Last Judgement, where clothing is scarce to be seen on anyone, other than a few scarves. Jesus included.
EDIT: I misrecalled how much clothing is not there, but there’s still plenty of non-sexual nudity in the fresco. And while Jesus isn’t naked, the clothing he does wear is simple and sparse.
