He spent four years thinking he should be able to just stop the broadcasting of a network if a show mocked him. Or exposed him. Or quoted him in ways he didn’t like.
There are plenty of reasons to point the ‘dictator’ finger at that lying, greedy, amoral bastard.

I think Trump never understood the laws that govern the office of President. He was never a politician or a lawyer, and he probably thought that presidents rule with total power. He had no idea what was involved in the position to which he was elected.
And he still doesn't. He can't really learn, because (A) he's stupid, and (B) he's not interested. He's relying on other people to grease the skids for him if he's elected, because he can't do anything for himself.
His only value to anyone is as a figurehead. It's the people behind him, using him, who are the real threat.
