“pretty sure you choose to be gay or to be trans”
Because everyone chooses to make life more difficult for the gits and shiggles?
“same way you choose to be straight”
I didn’t make any such choice. Maybe you’re bi? That would allow you to choose. So you didn’t choose to be straight, just not to be fully bi.
The fact you chose to say that in a thread about a completely different subject speaks volumes about you, OP.
Is there something you want to tell us…?! [/Freud]
If you "chose to be straight", it sounds like you may be in self-denial. I personally didn't chose to suddenly become shy with some girls that drove me crazy in highschool and to strangely have the fantasy of getting play-spanked by one (WTF? :). I chose how to behave around them, though.
For some people the same happens but with attraction to the same gender or both. It's not because of demons playing with your buttons while Jesus helplessly cries.
Los Enquirers? Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.
So long as everyone’s sharing, I’ll add in that I’m personally in the position where choosing to *identify* as straight wouldn’t be an entirely impractical or unreasonable choice; I’m more attracted to men than women, and deciding to mostly ignore any occasional attraction to women and definitely never acting on it is not a big loss, because I do that with a lot of men for various reasons anyway. Might even do so if it ever becomes too dangerous to do/be otherwise, and I recognize that this is a privilege. But at the same time, as an identity label that would be pretty superficial. Even ignoring the fact that I’m fully aware that I’m not really purely straight on the level of raw attraction, the term itself comes with a lot of cultural assumptions and baggage which really don’t apply to my preferences, lifestyle, and general situation. It’d be “I’m straight but with major caveats about every aspect of straightness, so the label tells you almost nothing”.

They think we ‘choose’ it because we’re being misled by Satan or we were abused by gays or lesbians as children.
Yeah, I’ve heard that before. It never made sense to me, because if that’s why people are LGBT, then it’s still not a choice, is it?
Confused?
