Anonymous: About your gaia online bio, what do you mean with the 'anti-predator' bit? are you against animals who eat meat?
bunninsula: Yes. I believe in changing or eliminating predators when possible. It’s like when people will try to stop lions from eating members of society. I have found no trait to justify letting other animals be eaten but not humans.

“I believe in changing or eliminating predators when possible.”
Well, you’re quite the idiot, aren’t you?
Carnivores LITERALLY require animal flesh to survive, how the hell would you ‘change’ them?
Other than killing them, of course.
You're in one corner of a cage: in the other corner, a bowl of carrots.
What you think is a wall on the opposite side rises to reveal you're in a much larger cage with a wire divider: that is the only thing between you and an extremely hungry puma that has tasted human blood.
Not only are you sans weapons of any kind, but you're sans clothes. Said wire divider rises.
Now change kitty to ensure it'll only go for the carrots: and not you.
This is of course absolutely crazy, you are basically for the mass murder of predators or genetic engineering to make them plant eaters. Either would lead to even more suffering, since prey has evolved to adapt to predators and will replicate so fast in their absence that all other resources will be drained in a short amount of time… which will then lead to the death of the prey animals themselves. You are pretty much switching out one kind of cycle of life and death with another, more ecologically damaging one whose long-term consequences you can’t even fathom. And all because you think that the world should work according to your own sensibilities.
Guess what though: Animals and nature are not moral entities. Veganism and vegetarianism only work in a specific human frame. It has merit for us, since we have the ability to survive without meat (and to a lesser degree without animal products at all) and we can decide to act upon it. But predators can’t do that. It’s cruel to force it upon them (looking at you people who give their cats only vegan food). One of the main points of veganism is “reduce suffering as much as possible”. This doesn’t do that.
Yes obligate carnivores are not called that for nothing...
This reminds me of the Jehovah's Witnesses literature about the Earthly paradise they are hoping for. Lions will be herbivores and their illustrations show them with children and bovids, etc. But they also believe that Adam and Eve of the Abrahamic origin myth and all animals were vegetarians and that eating meat was only allowed after the mythic flood...
And I’m guessing there are a number of animals you think are herbivores but are actually omnivores.
I live in sort of a Mecca of vegans… I’ve noticed that a lot of them think chickens, mice, rats, and squirrels are vegan. They are most definitely not.

“…demanding him to become a vegan.”
Um.
If my old Church had practiced Meatless Days then said ‘Meatless Fridays are now Meatless Weeks, meat sends your soul to Hell’ i’d have turned atheist by the age of five.
If my WIFE became vegan, the most i would offer is not to eat meat in front of her.
An online acquaintance? I’d sooner investigate one of those lonely women in my area, no credit card required.
Confused?
