Funny, I just read an article (probably inifinitely more believable than Scott Deadly’s claims) that says that most of the (interviewed) population of the USA believes that the country is too divided to fix anymore and that the Democracy in the US is dangerously close to collapsing (and I for one place the blame entirely on Trump and his fanatical StormTrumpers).

So, yeah, the fact that the nation is “united under Trump” and that he’ll win with a “historic landslide” next time seems like complete BS to me. If anything, the investigations into the attempted coup make me hopeful the orange p.o.s. will be imprisoned for life and his assets frozen.

I have to disagree with that. Sidious/Palpatine is even by his own actor stated to be pretty much evil incarnate. Wey-Yu was driven primarily by insatiable greed (even to the point of stupidity). Sidious’ prime goal was for the entire galaxy, nay the entire universe, to forever be tyranically subjugated under his immortal rule, with him as the sole being with freedom. Let’s not forget that, in canon at least, he designed the Empire to collapse without him, even without his loyalists doing a scorched earth campaign on their own, failed worlds. If he couldn’t rule everything, it all deserved to die.

Plus, Wey-Yu was a corporation run by several asshats; Sidious was an actual single person.

I admit I never watched B5, but when I hear of comparing Trump with evil aliens, I think of the Goa’uld from Stargate. Question, why are the “good guys” (and I use the term loosely) always dubbed the “forces of light” while the bad guys are always dubbed the “forces of darkness” in these crappy, pseudo-scifi stories? Aside from the fact that it seems like a very lazy and hack attempt to make it clear who is who without actually showing it (such as showing the bad guys actually doing evil stuff), I don’t get why darkness has to be always synonymous with evil anymore. Maybe in fantasy settings, sure, but in scifi settings? Most of space IS darkness. Not to mention, which self-respecting superpower calls itself the “forces of darkness”. That’s like trying to advertise “we’re the bad guys! Oppose us!”

Besides, “Sacred Darkness”, “Dark is not evil”, and “light is not good” are tropes, after all.
