The Left’s power rests on the shoulders of a great American Atlas—millions of ordinary Americans
Wait, did this guy ever actually READ Atlas Shrugged?? I was actually a bit of an Ayn Rand fan way back in the day, in my misguided youth, lol. I read it multiple times, believe it or not (pretty sure it’s still the longest book I ever made it through). The “Atlas” who “shrugged” was hardly anything like “millions of ordinary Americans,” no, quite the opposite, in fact. It was a handful of great industrialists and intellectuals and such who basically got pissed at how things were going and “went on strike” from the rest of America. (as I recall it, the rest of the world is really only mentioned in passing)
As a side note I guess, the working title of the book was indeed “The Strike,” but Rand ditched that because it’d be too much of a “spoiler,” as we’d say now. Uh oh, wait, I just did spoil it, didn’t I? Well, anyway, it’s seriously not worth reading unless you’re into her philosophy, lol
