Problem being that he thinks threats of perdition should be the entire substance of preaching. And of course he’ll claim our problem with that is actually a problem with God, as though that would guarantee silencing anyone via appeal to authority.
But even without considering people who don’t worship El, if Job and Habakkuk could chastise El and not get a single scratch (and in Job’s case, even be acknowledged as doing the right thing in spite of his ignorance), then we’re probably not talking that thin-skinned a god. Judaism certainly sees getting angry at El as valid. Why can’t typical Christianity?
