Problem being that he thinks threats of perdition should be the entire substance of preaching. And of course he’ll claim our problem with that is actually a problem with God, as though that would guarantee silencing anyone via appeal to authority.

But even without considering people who don’t worship El, if Job and Habakkuk could chastise El and not get a single scratch (and in Job’s case, even be acknowledged as doing the right thing in spite of his ignorance), then we’re probably not talking that thin-skinned a god. Judaism certainly sees getting angry at El as valid. Why can’t typical Christianity?

Assuming he’s read the prophecy, I’m willing to bet that’s his dodge over Habakkuk being livid over El’s idea of how to fix the Hebrew upper classes’ classism (send the Akkadian army in to squash them, without considering all the collateral damage that will befall the very commoners he’s trying to help). Not a sense of justice, merely sinful spite and agency.

If he even sees a difference between agency and spite in the first place.

I can only imagine how much they’ll claim the left-wing “warped” you to “beguile” you into “believing” dark skin is more beautiful than light. I don’t think they do too well with the idea of beauty being inherently subjective.

I know I favor the look of light skin, but that’s only one part—it’s not sufficient. I also want dark hair and slightly-less-dark eyes (so the pupil is readily distinguishable) for the proper contrasts. Now watch them roar over me not liking blond hair at all (and me a strawberry blonde to boot!).
