If there is a big serious lession that Crusader Kings III is trying to teach, it would certainly be that mental health is really important, that trying to “just power through” stress is likely to only end in an even worse breakdown, and how grateful we should be for modern psychiatric therapy and medication. Which would seem to be strongly at odds with the Conservative™ ethos…
Also, no mention of promoting the “Conservative value” of marriage and family*? It is a game where you play a dynasty, where you NEED an heir to continue playing and where it is important to ensure their good upbringing (and, I’ll admit, I have used the game as wish-fulfilment for my familial longings).
* Even considering that adultery and lots of very messed-up family dynamics you can end up with even without going for The Aristocrats, their entry on the Sims say that it promotes both the conservative virtue of marriage and the sin of nnon-marital sex…
Also, the way they proclaim basic human decency that is, as Jesus himself points out (Matther 5.43ff) is common even to evil people, as a virtue exclusive to their in-group is… really disturbing. And infuriating, especially seing how much they themselves in particular seem to fall short of these virtues way more than normal people.
Anyways, reading through the article in general, I get the feeling that the “essay” was written by the trolls and/or is an attempt to rationalise, often rather desperately, games Conservapedians enjoy as being valuable works of Conservatism™, and that they have no sense for satire at all.
