• There are no coincidences.
I don’t even totally get what they’re trying to say with that, in the context of this post…but that’s a saying that’s always just annoyed me to no end. There are no coincidences? Bullshit, there are coincidences all the damn time! Because we live on a planet with like 8 billion people doing various stuff around the clock, there’s just bound to be some instances where, from someone’s certain perspective, things seem to “line up” or well, even “coincide”. Sometimes, maybe even quite often, that happens without any greater meaning behind it.
To mention one example I know of, because I’m a huge fan of one the teams that was involved (go Blue!)…in 2006, Michigan played Ohio State in a hotly anticipated game in their long-standing college football rivalry (said by some to be the best rivalry not only in college football, but in all of American sports, college or pro!). In the end, Ohio State beat Michigan by the score of 42-39. The funny part is that the winning four-digit number for Ohio’s state lottery was announced shortly after the game was over….and maybe you can guess where this is going…it was 4-2-3-9. Is it really that hard to believe that that was just a random thing that happened, or do you have to ascribe some deeper meaning to it?
