For many, “politics” is anything that upsets the cushy status quo they have been born in, so any progressive and most leftist policies are “political”, “ideological” and even “hysterical” for them and therefore seen in a negative light, while reactionary and conservative policies are just how things are and are therefore unfairly not associated with these traits.
