1) Due to illegal immigrant crackdowns by the Trump regime, illegal Hispanic immigrant farm workers have abandoned American farms, either being kidnapped by ICE or going into hiding due to very rational fear.
2) Without underpaid immigrant labor, American farmers are unable to harvest their own crops, leading to those crops rotting in their fields and American farmers going bankrupt and losing their farms.
3) Foreign companies are stepping in to buy some of those farms, although Chinese businesses own less than 1% of American farmland.
The biggest threat to our food supply is the Trump misadministration. The second biggest threat are the white American farmers themselves, being too spoiled by government handouts to realize they were cutting their own throats when they voted Republican.
