It might be irrelevant for me to say this, but at this point I feel the need to. I used to be very condescending and offensive towards the religious, but becoming an atheist gave me a new respect for religious people. They have also made a decision as to which side of the fence they fall on and, while religion and its communities can sometimes be an aid that I do not have access to, religious people also have to negotiate their lives with the additional complications that their belief system brings. Often, they have to ask themselves some serious questions while performing a task I myself wouldn’t think twice about.
And then there’s arrogant twats like this. A fairly ordinary fundie by the standards of what’s usually quoted on this website, but still not the kind of person I would ever hear talking like this in real life. I’ve often wondered to myself why I persistently return to FSTDT. Being an atheist I can’t say “There but for the grace of God go I”, but perhaps it’s because the fundies, like the incels and the fantasists like Colonel-Knight-Rider, are reflections or caricatures of what we all have the potential to become had we been less fortunate.
