I was just in Machu Picchu. It seemed like it was worth standing in. There are literally people still living in Inca housing in Ollantaytambo, and some of the best hotels in Cusco have first floors built by the Incas.

There are buildings thousands of years old in Peru that you can go inside. How many 3000 year old buildings can you go still go inside of anywhere in Europe? Not too many. There is at least one in Peru.

I actually wish that this whole approach had been slightly different. Some of the most important work of feminism was women being allowed to step out from traditional roles. I always felt like to a certain extent, men were left behind in theirs, in the sense that many men seem unable to imagine different behaviors from the traditional ones as acceptable. You could call that “toxic masculinity,” but that sort of makes it sound confrontational, and I feel like feminism did not do that to women. As a result, all these men who think they have to be tough, aggressive and blindered are just lashing out against it. Maybe it won’t matter in the long run, but I think it is kind of a shame.
