Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov:
“If Ukraine continues its provocations by attacking Russian cities, Russia will be forced to declare war against Ukraine”.

Who is this act even FOR at this point? The only people who don’t know what’s going on in Ukraine are those blocked from internet access who wouldn’t see this bullshit statement, a statement that begs some questions about the Russian forces that were already in Ukraine blowing things up if they’re not at war and how that isn’t an act or declaration of war in itself. And the Russian people who are having their information controlled - not as much as Vlad would like but controlled nonetheless - would be right to wonder why this is the first they’ve heard of their cities being invaded by Ukraine and why glorious leader kind of neglected to inform them of such things. Especially those families who have kin in the Russian military that have already died “not” invading Ukraine.
I’m guessing that this is because Ukraine is currently attempting to retake the Donbas region now. “We conquered this land fair and square, no take-backsies.” (BTW, Russia has yet to actually declare war against Ukraine, Putin refuses to do so for whatever reason)

so, I’ve been following some analyses, and there was the observation, that there weren’t any conscripts in the invasion force, instead it’s regular military, reservists, paramilitaries and private military cooperations, with the given explanation, that dead conscripts would be politically inconvinient. My interpretation (based on those analysies) would be, that these manpower sources just aren’t enough, and that this is some attempt at getting the populace in a state where they are willing to accept conscripts going to war.
Well, if you don't want the 'pesky' Ukrainians attacking your precious troops, stop pestering Ukraine then, pesky Peskov.
...but your precious captain of the Moskva sleeps with the ryby.
This is literally like these bullies telling their victims to “stop hitting themselves.” Is this guy for real a spokesman for the government of a nuclear power?
And tell me, if annexing parts and supporting secessionist government even before the current unprovoked invasion wasn’t war already then do Putin plans the use of WMD?
Believe it or not, Russia never actually declared war on Ukraine. This is “just” a special military operation, apparently on behalf of Donbass.
The trick is that the Russian constitution forbids wars of aggression. Putin just used loopholes about Donbass problems as a fig leaf for his illegal plan to restore the Russian Empire starting with Ukraine. Even if the destruction of the Moskva implies that Russian forces can’t really hope to stay put, Putin can at least fully legalize the war, presumably to compel more allies than Belarus to help him out.
Confused?
