…You know what, fine, I’ll play along. Let’s assume for a moment that more and more people are becoming autistic. And let’s assume for a moment that those autists are artificially engineered rather than naturally born. So what? No, really, what’s so terrible about autistic people? Do you even know what the autism spectrum is? Because I do, as I AM in the autism spectrum myself. Specifically, I have Asperger’s syndrome, yet you would hardly recognize it unless you really knew me. I simply look and act that “normal” when there’s people around.

Autism isn’t a disease. Nor are we mentally unwell. Our brains are just wired slightly differently from neurotypical people, which has both benefits and downsides to us.

And quite frankly, if you represent what neurotypical people are (aka homophobic, racist, ableist, sexist, mean, and just outright willfully ignorant), then the USA could really use more autistic people in power to “fix” it.

You know moose, the funny thing is that in most circumstances I might get a bit annoyed at using the same example (as Josh Duggar here) to refute some else’s arguments over and over again. But considering the far right fundie christians, even after all this time, still keep being diehard hypocrites about one of their own biggest sinners, I’d say keep bombarding them with that example until at least one of them cracks.

Honestly, I might be able to forgive their hypocrisy concerning the Duggar family and other such deviants on their side IF they’d actually acknowledge that they’re being hypocritical about it. But no, they just keep doubling down on it and their holier-than-thou attitude.

The sad thing is that not only are these monsters utterly abusive (emotionally and sadly sometimes physically) as parents and extremely egotistical psychopaths, but as we can see from Ass Resistance, most fundies (aka a creepily large percentage of the USA) even celebrate such behavior and are utterly convinced that’s a “parent’s basic right”. Because to them, children are the possession of those two people who made them (especially the father), and nobody else. Hence why they also oppose abortion and don’t support adoption.

Anyway, you want my opinion? As “emo teenager” as it might sound, child does NOT owe their parents anything for being concieved (after all, they never had a choice in it). If anything the parents owe their children everything. I think it’s a basic responsibility of a human being not to have children if you cannot guarantee they’ll have a fair shot at a happy life.

To me, it seems like the counselor was just doing her job admirably and trying to offer emotional support to the child who does not have such at home. Meanwhile, the parent is clearly the asshole for violating her child’s privacy and emotionally abusing him/her/them for not being “perfect” enough and needing psychological support.

On a side note, if you want my beliefs, then yes, life IS just a pure, giant coincidence/chance. Life spontaniously came into being out of chemical reactions in the primordial soup for no real reason, and life evolved for no real reason other than to survive. And life survives for no real reason other than to pass on its genes to the next generation.

Is it all pointless? Maybe/likely. Does that make it worthless? Hell no. No pre-determined purpose means lifeforms can choose their own purpose in the cosmos! Life would only be worthless if it was “created” for a single task by some narcissistic being to worship it or be punished.

And who knows, maybe IF we were “created”, it could still be that our purpose IS to evolve. To become something greater than what we started as.
