They put in a lot of effort to carefully curate the evidences they use to maintain that belief. But plenty of experiments they can perform show that they’re wrong.
This would be like a bunch of evolutionary biologists searching for more fossils to show that Piltdown Man was authentic.

Evidence doesn’t work.
Their OWN EXPERIMENTS don’t work. Recently, they got a very expensive laser-gyroscope. Those things are sensitive enough to measure Earth’s Rotational speed directly. So they devised an experiment to use one and prove the Earth is stationary. It failed. They maintain their belief, despite the expense wasted.
