3. He's got a point here. Western society has become less religious as time (in terms of centuries) has gone on: first becoming less fanatical, then starting to reject religion all together. At the same time, living standards have increased dramatically on pretty much all metrics.

And if you jump back in time further, the major blip in terms of living standards is actually the pagan Roman Empire, which collapsed at about the time they made Christianity the state religion.

Through this argument (which assumes that correlation equals causation and so is badly flawed), we can see that, yes, "the effects of rejecting God are both clearly delineated and observable".
