Yehuda Schlesinger #psycho #racist timesofisrael.com

Right-wing journalist Yehuda Schlesinger on Thursday retracted comments he had made on a Channel 12 news broadcast justifying the suspected sodomy of a detained Palestinian terror suspect and then advocating that such acts should be standard state practice

Five Israel Defense Forces reservists are in military custody in connection with the brutal sexual abuse of a Palestinian detainee at the Sde Teiman detention facility, where many inmates are alleged to have taken part in the Hamas-led October 7 onslaught. Some on the right have decried the case as alleged persecution of IDF fighters by the justice system

Referring to the controversial case, Schlesinger said on Wednesday: “The only problem is that it is not standard state policy to abuse these detainees. Because in general, they deserve it, and this is great revenge.” He added that it might also “serve as a deterrent”

On Thursday, Schlesinger retracted his comments, telling Radio 103FM that he had received “completely justified criticism”[…]
The investigation into the suspected sexual abuse sparked protests by far-right extremists, including MKs, who broke into two military facilities last week after military police detained 10 soldiers over the incident, five of whom have since been released from custody

Netanyahu said he had spoken with coalition chiefs and they agreed the bill “won’t come up right now.” In a message to coalition party leaders, Justice Minister Yariv Levin[…]specified that the bill would not be brought before the committee when it convenes Sunday. Later Thursday, Shas back-tracked on the bill as well

The extraordinary legislation would ban egalitarian, mixed-gender prayer at the section of the holy site where it is now allowed, criminalize the activity of the Women of the Wall prayer rights group, and ban visitors from wearing attire deemed immodest

It would penalize offenders with a six-month prison term or a NIS 10,000 ($2,900) fine

The bill, which had been mentioned in coalition agreements in general terms, was added at the last moment to Sunday’s agenda of the Ministerial Committee for Legislation, with Hebrew media reporting that Shas party leader Aryeh Deri wanted the bill to pass its preliminary reading in the plenum over the next few days[…]
Shas said it welcomed Netanyahu’s decision to freeze the bill and maintain the status quo “as it has been until now”

“The Western Wall doesn’t need any law,” the party said hours after submitting the bill

“Most of the Jewish nation respects the holiness of the place, except for the provocateur women who don’t cease turning it into an arena of political combat, all under the cover of the High Court”[…]
Filed by Shas MK Uriel Buso, the bill would seek to criminalize mixed-gender prayer anywhere at the Western Wall, including the pluralistic prayer area

It stipulates that it will be prohibited to “hold a ceremony, including a religious ceremony, not in accordance with the site’s traditions, that harms the feelings of the worshipers in relation to the site.” The “site’s traditions” are defined in the bill as being set by the ultra-Orthodox-led Chief Rabbinate and the appointed rabbi of the Western Wall, currently Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch

Kanye West #racist #fundie #conspiracy timesofisrael.com

Kanye West launched into a fresh tirade against Jewish people during a podcast appearance on Sunday, after being restricted from major social media platforms for similar rants

The hip-hop star, now known as Ye, spoke on Revolt TV’s “Drink Champs” podcast, hosted by rapper N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN, where he made antisemitic claims regarding Jewish ties to media and wealth

“You get used to paparazzi taking a picture of you, and you don’t get money off it. You just get used to being screwed by the Jewish media,” West raged, adding that “the Jewish media blocked me out”

“Jewish people have owned the Black voice. Whether it’s through us wearing the Ralph Lauren shirt, or it’s all of us being signed to a record label, or having a Jewish manager, or being signed to a Jewish basketball team, or doing a movie on a Jewish platform like Disney”

He also repeated an earlier claim made in an Instagram post that he couldn’t be antisemitic, since black people were descended from Jews because they had the “blood of Christ,” echoing claims made by the Black Hebrew Israelites, which is considered a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center[…]
On the podcast, West blamed “Jewish Zionists” for news stories revealing that his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and her then-boyfriend, comedian Pete Davidson, had sex in front of a fireplace

“It’s Jewish Zionists that’s about that life. That’s telling this Christian woman that has four black children to put that out as a message,” he charged

In another wild claim about Jewish people and wealth, West said that Catholics refused to work on divorce cases, “so the Jewish lawyers came in and were willing to divorce people. That’s how they came into the money”

Responding to Los Angeles apparel designer Dov Charney’s call for West to visit the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, the rapper said Charney should visit Planned Parenthood, calling it “our Holocaust Museum” in reference to comments he has made on abortion

Kobi Shabtai #racist timesofisrael.com

Israel Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai claimed it is part of the “nature” and “mentality” of Arabs Israelis to kill, in a phone call with National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir that the latter apparently leaked to the press

The comments were made during a conversation that the two men were having about the national guard that Ben Gvir is seeking to establish, ostensibly in part to combat record-high crime rates in Arab communities

“One murder after another. It has crossed every line. We need a strong national guard,” Ben Gvir was quoted to have said in a transcript leaked to Channel 12 on Tuesday

“Mr. Minister, there is nothing that can be done. They kill each other. That is their nature. That is the mentality of the Arabs,” Shabtai responded

Ben Gvir and Shabtai have been feuding intensely for over a week over the national guard, with the police commissioner warning against placing the nascent force under the authority of the far-right minister. The decision to leak damning contents of their private conversation appeared to bring ties between the minister in charge of the police and the commissioner to a new low

Shabtai’s office fumed at the publication of the comments in the press, saying the commissioner was shocked that Ben Gvir and his office “are recording personal conversations between the minister and the commissioner and are outraged that statements were taken out of context from a conversation that dealt with patterns of conduct in Arab society”[…]
Ayman Odeh, who chairs the majority-Arab opposition Joint List party, called for Shabtai to be fired over the comments. He also maintained that they were factually inaccurate

Energy Minister Israel Katz fired his political adviser Monday after media reports exposed extremist remarks[…]
Despite being fired, the adviser, Oved Hugi, attended a Knesset committee discussion on Monday

The Kan public broadcaster reported Sunday evening on Hugi’s remarks[…]
Hugi, a social activist and member of the ruling Likud party’s central committee who has for years represented Jewish residents of southern Tel Aviv in Knesset committees, blasted former top law enforcement officials on Saturday, after the judges in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s trial reportedly said the bribery charge against the premier would be hard to prove

“May your memory be blotted out, Shai Nitzan, Mandelbluff and Roni Alsheich,” Hugi wrote on Facebook, referring respectively to the former state attorney, former attorney general Avichai Mandelblit and the former police chief, who were in charge of the investigation and the indictment against Netanyahu. Hugi has previously claimed Mandelblit and Nitzan were descendants of Hitler[…]
Hugi tweeted: “Today I understand why Hitler, may his memory be blotted out, slaughtered six million Ashkenazim and all of Europe cooperated with him.” In another post, reacting to an uproar over anti-Haredi remarks by radio host Natan Zahavi, Hugi wrote: “From day to day I respect Hitler, may his name and memory be blotted out, thanks to Zahavi”[…]
Hugi criticized Hitler for “killing six million [people] instead of just killing [former Supreme Court chief justice] Aharon Barak”[…]
Hugi wondered “how it is possible that there are people in Israel with the family name Schwartz while the commander of the concentration and death camp Auschwitz had the family name Schwartz”

Kais Saied #racist #conspiracy #crackpot timesofisrael.com

Tunisian President Kais Saied made antisemitic remarks Monday evening, claiming that a secret “Zionist” influence was evident in the name given to Storm Daniel, the deadly storm that wreaked havoc earlier this month in Libya, Greece and elsewhere

Storm Daniel, the deadliest Mediterranean storm ever recorded, killed over 3,000 people in Libya floods, with over 10,000 others still missing

“Did they not wonder about the naming? Daniel is a Hebrew prophet,” Saied said in video remarks from his office carried by local media

“The Zionist movement has penetrated to attack the mind and thinking, from Daniel to Abraham,” he added

The last part was a reference to the Abraham Accords, the name for the series of US-brokered normalization agreements in recent years between Israel and Arab states, which Tunisia vehemently opposes[…]
Saied has previously been embroiled in an antisemitism controversy

In 2021, the Conference of European Rabbis charged that he had accused Jews of being responsible “for the instability of the country,” during a discussion with residents of Mnihla, a suburb of the capital Tunis, over protests concerning the economic situation in the country

In a video uploaded to the Facebook page of the Presidency of Tunisia, Saied was heard denouncing the protests, which he said were the work of divisive forces Then he added a phrase that sounded like “al yahood,” or “the Jews” in Arabic

The president’s office at the time denied the allegations, denouncing the “propagation of false information” and saying it amounted to “calumny”

On the morning after a deadly and unprecedented rampage by settlers who torched dozens of Palestinian vehicles as well as several homes in retaliation for a deadly Palestinian terror attack, a member of the coalition gave the rioters his complete backing[…]
The Palestinian Red Crescent medical service said two other people were shot and wounded, a third person was stabbed and a fourth was beaten with an iron bar

But in a media blitz Monday morning, coalition MK Zvika Fogel of the extreme-right Otzma Yehudit party — the chairman of the Knesset’s National Security Committee — was unequivocal in his backing for the rioters and his denunciation of the government his party leader Itamar Ben Gvir is a member of

“I want to restore security for the residents of the State of Israel,” Fogel told Galey Israel Radio. “How do we do that? We stop using the word ‘proportionality.’ We stop with our objection to collective punishment [just] because it doesn’t fly with all sorts of courts. We take the gloves off

“Yesterday, a terrorist came from Huwara. A closed, burnt Huwara — that’s what I want to see. That’s the only way to achieve deterrence. After a murder like yesterday’s, we need burning villages when the IDF doesn’t act”

He lambasted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, saying he was ashamed that a coalition he is a part of was “stuttering” in its response to Palestinian terror

In a separate interview with Army Radio, Fogel said he viewed the result of Sunday night’s rampage with “much favor,” adding: “They have understood in Huwara that there is a balance of terror that the IDF doesn’t manage to achieve”

In both interviews, Fogel claimed the settler riots had achieved deterrence against Palestinian terrorism the likes of which nothing has achieved since Operation Protective Shield in 2002, a major IDF operation in the West Bank that helped quell the Second Intifada

Fogel later tweeted that his comments had been “distorted”

A man who stormed the US Capitol wearing an anti-Semitic sweatshirt reading “Camp Auschwitz” was arrested Wednesday in his home state of Virginia, according to local law enforcement.

Robert Keith Packer, 56, was arrested by FBI agents on charges of unlawfully entering a restricted area, violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, according to a police warrant issued by the District of Columbia.

Packer’s “Camp Auschwitz” shirt — one of many extremist symbols present — was clearly visible in footage from events, including while standing behind people holding a torn piece of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office nameplate.

The shirt also said “Work Brings Freedom,” a rough translation of the German phrase “Arbeit macht frei” that greeted Jewish prisoners arriving at the Nazi death camp where more than 1.1 million Jews were murdered. The back of the sweatshirt said “Staff.”

JTA — A Brazilian pastor prayed to God to “destroy the Jews like vermin” and bring about a second Holocaust during a sermon in Rio de Janeiro.

“Massacre the Jews, God, hit them with your sword, for they have left God, they have left the nations,” Pastor Tupirani da Hora Lores shouted at dozens of congregants earlier this month at his Geracao Jesus Cristo church, a recording of the event shows. His congregants are heard repeating his words passionately.

“They contrived, went with prostitutes, and when they were told to repent they said they’d do it but they lied,” the pastor said, possibly in reference to the forced conversions to Christianity during the Inquisition.

The Sweden Democrats’ media director, Oskar Cavalli-Bjorkman, told the Swedish news agency TT late Saturday that the party would take Fallenkvist’s “insensitive and inappropriate” comments seriously and launch an internal investigation on the matter

While it remained unclear what kind of point Fallenkvist wanted to make with her comments on Anne’s diary, she later sent a text message to Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter saying she had been misinterpreted

Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef #racist #sexist #fundie timesofisrael.com

Chief rabbi calls black people ‘monkeys’

The Sephardic chief rabbi of Israel called black people “monkeys” during his weekly sermon on Saturday evening. In footage aired by the Ynet news site, Yosef could be seen referring to black people by the word “kushi,” which in modern Hebrew has pejorative connotations, and then going on to term a black person a “monkey.” His office told Ynet that the comparison was a quote from the Talmud. Yosef has been known to court controversy in his sermons. In a sermon delivered in May last year, he appeared to suggest during his weekly sermon that secular woman behave like animals because they dress immodestly. In March 2016, Yosef was forced to retract a comment that non-Jews should not live in Israel, calling it “theoretical.” He said non-Jews could live in Israel only if they observe the seven Noahide Laws, which are prohibitions against idolatry, blaspheming God, murder, forbidden sexual relations, stealing, and eating limbs off a live animal, and which prescribe the establishment of a legal system. Non-Jews, Yosef said, are in Israel only to serve Jews. Israel has two chief rabbis. Yosef represents those with origins in the Iberian Peninsula, North Africa, and the Middle East, and David Lau represents Ashkenazic Jews, with origins in European lands of the Roman Empire.

Rabbi Eliezer Kashtiel and Rabbi Giora Redler #racist #psycho #wingnut #fundie timesofisrael.com

Two rabbis at a pre-military religious academy in a West Bank settlement were recorded making derogatory and racist comments about Arabs, defending Adolf Hitler’s worldview, and openly promoting Jewish supremacy.

In a series of undated recordings published by Channel 13 news on Monday, Rabbi Eliezer Kashtiel, the head of the Bnei David academy in Eli, can be heard calling for the enslavement of the “stupid and violent” non-Jews due to their genetic inferiority.

“The gentiles will want to be our slaves. Being a slave to a Jew is the best. They’re glad to be slaves, they want to be slaves,” he told a class in one of the video clips. “Instead of just walking the streets and being stupid and violent and harming each other, once they’re slaves, their lives can begin to take shape.”

“All around us, we are surrounded by peoples with genetic problems. Ask a simple Arab ‘where do you want to be?’ He wants to be under the occupation. Why? Because they have genetic problems, they don’t know how to run a country, they don’t know how to do anything. Look at them.”

In the lecture, Kashtiel goes on to embrace racism against non-Jews.

“Yes, we’re racists. We believe in racism… There are races in the world and peoples have genetic traits, and that requires us to try to help them,” he said. “The Jews are a more successful race.”

In another clip from the Bnei David Yeshiva published by Channel 13, Rabbi Giora Redler can be heard praising Hilter’s ideology during a lesson about the Holocaust.

“Let’s just start with whether Hitler was right or not,” he told students. “He was the most correct person there ever was, and was correct in every word he said… he was just on the wrong side.”

Redler goes on to say that pluralism is the “real” genocide being perpetrated against the Jewish people, not Nazi Germany’s Final Solution.

“The real Holocaust was not when they murdered the Jews, that’s not it. All these excuses — that it was ideological or systematic — are nonsense,” he said. “Humanism, and the secular culture of ‘We believe in man,’ that’s the Holocaust.”

The comments drew wide condemnation from opposition lawmakers who called for pulling all state funding to the Eli-based academy over Kashtiel’s and Redler’s remarks.

In 2017, then-defense minister Avigdor Liberman vowed to defund the Eli academy, but the move was blocked by the attorney general for legal reasons. Instead, Liberman announced that he would restrict the number of students as a punitive measure for the “constant sexism” at the Eli academy.

Rabbi Aharon Ramati and eight unnamed female accomplices #fundie #psycho timesofisrael.com

A Jerusalem man who was arrested Monday on suspicion of running a cult in which dozens of women and young children lived in exploitative and slave-like conditions was named Tuesday as Aharon Ramati.

The 60-year-old self-described rabbi, who runs the Be’er Miryam seminary, is also suspected of sexually exploiting the women, Hebrew-language media reported.

Ramati was ordered to remain in prison Monday for seven days.

Police said the community operated for years in the Bukharim Quarter, in Jerusalem’s city center, under the guise of a women’s seminar. In it, some 50 women lived in a state of overcrowding, deprivation and poor sanitation. Many had children — a total of about ten — aged one to five, who were held in seclusion within the compound on a regular basis.

Authorities said the leader of the suspected cult controlled the women’s lives with absolute authority, isolating them from their families and society at large and punishing them for transgressions through various means. The women were employed in jobs approved by Ramati, and some of their wages were transferred directly to him.

[...]

The police official alleged that the arrested women took an active part in abusing the victims.

“They humiliated them,” he said. “One of them would regularly put their fingers in the fire to ‘simulate hell.'” In another case, he said, one of the female suspects forced a hot pepper into the mouth of one of the victims.

Ramati was arrested in 2015 over similar suspicions but was subsequently released after members of the alleged cult testified in his favor.

Monday’s arrest came after a number of women who left the community came forward to testify against the man and following months of a clandestine investigation into the community.

Ramati has rejected the accusations against him.

Yariv Levin #racist timesofisrael.com

Justice Minister Yariv Levin, the chief architect of the suspended judicial overhaul legislation, reportedly told the cabinet on Sunday that the Supreme Court must feature justices who “understand” why Jewish Israelis would not be “prepared to live with Arabs” in mixed localities

“Arabs buy apartments in Jewish communities in the Galilee and this causes Jews to leave these cities, because they are not prepared to live with Arabs. We need to ensure that the Supreme Court has justices who understand this,” said Levin, according to the Kan public broadcaster

His reported remark was meant to be an argument in favor of controversial legislation that would bring judicial appointments under political control, as part of the suspended push to overhaul the judiciary and dramatically reduce the powers of the High Court of Justice

It came as the cabinet also held a discussion on a proposed government resolution advanced by the far-right Otzma Yehudit party to assert “Zionist values” in government policy, a move that would seemingly enable giving Jewish Israelis preferential treatment in housing planning and construction

Lueth had allegedly “repeatedly described himself as a fascist and referred to his grandfather’s Aryan lineage,” the paper wrote in its online edition, citing party sources.

Lueth’s grandfather was a submarine commander during World War II and received an Iron Cross from Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, the newspaper said.

AfD co-leader Tino Chrupalla confirmed the suspension to Der Spiegel weekly, but declined to comment on the reason.

Spiegel said Lueth had not been officially sacked yet, “but it doesn’t look good.”

Lueth, 43, has been with the party since its early days as an anti-euro outfit in 2013 and had cultivated close ties to top party figures like Gauland.

Lueth started out as an AfD spokesperson before becoming the main spokesman for its parliamentary group when the party entered the national Bundestag in 2017.

Spiegel said Lueth apparently made the controversial comments in an online chat with a woman who is not an AfD member.

The album, whose full title is “La Menace Fantome” (The Phantom Menace), also contains references to popular conspiracy theories.

Benzi Gopstein and Baruch Marzel #racist #wingnut timesofisrael.com

The Supreme Court on Sunday banned a pair of senior members of the extreme-right Otzma Yehudit party from running in Israel’s elections in September.

The nine-member panel of justices voted unanimously in favor of disqualifying Benzi Gopstein, while a single justice voted against doing the same for Baruch Marzel. At the same time, the court dismissed separate petitions calling for the banning of party chairman Itamar Ben Gvir as well as the entire Otzma Yehudit slate from running.

Justices also threw out a petition demanding the disqualification of the Joint List — an amalgam of four mostly Arab parties.

Gopstein leads the racist Lehava organization, which opposes interfaith and inter-ethnic interaction, relationships and marriages. Lehava has held violent protests outside mixed Jewish-Muslim weddings and along the routes of gay pride parades, and has called on the public to alert the organization to cases where Jewish women are discovered to be dating Arab men.

Marzel led extremist rabbi Meir Kahane’s Kach party after its founder’s 1990 murder, and has long been identified with the faction’s goal of forcibly cleansing the country of Arabs. He continued to be among its top supporters until it disbanded in 1994 after the Israeli government declared it a terror group.

Explaining the decision to bar Gopstein from running, Supreme Court President Esther Hayut cited the “dozens” of remarks made by the Lehava chairman which presented an “unequivocal” sense that he “systematically incites racism against the Arab public.”

“Gopstein presents the entire Arab public as an enemy with which no contact should be made that could be interpreted as coexistence,” Hayut continued.

Among the quotes cited in the petition, the Lehava leader is quoted as saying at his daughter’s wedding, “Let’s say that if an Arab waiter were here, he wouldn’t be serving the food, he’d be looking for the nearest hospital.”

The court deemed his remarks to have “revealed a new low point in the racial discourse that we have not known before,” lamenting that Gopstein had not agreed to retract any of his remarks.

As for Marzel, the judges acknowledged that he had expressed regret for many of the comments he had been heard making against the Arab public. The Hebron resident-activist chalked up the remarks to slips of the tongue. Ultimately though, the court ruled that Marzel had expressed similar remorse when his candidacy was challenged in 2003 and in 2015. Then, the court ruled to green-light his candidacy.

“But in practice he persisted in conduct that incited racism,” the justices wrote, concluding that they therefore would not give him a third chance.

The justices thus accepted the recommendation of Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit, who in a legal opinion last week called for the two candidates to be disqualified.

[...]

Otzma Yehudit blasted Sunday’s ruling and claimed that the Supreme Court was part of the political left, bent on preventing the rise of another right-wing government. Ben Gvir claimed the decision would boost the party’s performance at the polls.

Gopstein called the Supreme Court a “branch of Meretz,” referring to the left-wing party.

[...]

Similarly bashing the decision was the Yamina party, led by former justice minister Ayelet Shaked, which vowed to work to “balance” the judicial makeup of the top legal body after the September election.

“Once again, it turns out that the protection of minorities, the value of equality and the right to choose and be chosen are reserved only for Arab members of the Knesset who hate Israel and are terror supporters,” the right-wing party claimed.

[...]

Democratic Camp candidate Stav Shaffir praised the court’s decision regarding Gopstein and Marzel, but said she regretted that a similar ruling hadn’t been handed down regarding Ben Gvir.

“There is no place in the Knesset for Kahanists who undermine democracy and back violence against innocents,” she said of the slate, whose senior members are self-described disciples of the extremist rabbi, Kahane.

Outrage in Poland has grown as images have been published of Greniuch making the stiff-armed salute years ago, and participating in demonstrations as a young man with the National Radical Camp, a far-right group that traces its roots to an anti-Semitic and openly fascist movement that existed before World War II.

Greniuch had already been posted to lead the IPN office in the southwestern Polish city of Opole three years earlier. In a 2019 interview, he said he had not cut himself off from his earlier views, but had changed his behavior.

While I believe everyone should be respected as a person, I also believe children need to have both a mother and father. Plus, a gay couple can do what they want in private. But shouldn't flaunt it, especially in the holy city

Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef #fundie timesofisrael.com

[Note: This is from May 2017]

The chief rabbi of Israel on Saturday night appeared to suggest during his weekly sermon that secular woman behave like animals due to their immodest dress.

Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel Itzhak Yosef also lamented that the non-religious community is unaware of how much respect religious Jews supposedly have for women.

In other comments, he advised religious IDF soldiers who find themselves at army events where women are singing to remove their eyeglasses and conspicuously read from a book to demonstrate that they are not participating.

“If the secular knew how much we respect the woman; everything we do is for a woman’s dignity,” Yosef said according to a Sunday report by the Hebrew-language Kikar Hashabat website that serves the religious community. “A woman is not an animal, she has to keep her dignity. To be modest [in her dress] is her dignity.”

Religious demands for modest dress and behavior by women is a cause of friction in the religious-secular divide in Israel with the latter seeing such requirements as sexual discrimination.

In advice to soldiers, Yosef noted that due to his position he is sometimes required to attended official ceremonies that include singing performances by women. Recalling an event he was at that was also attended by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin, Yosef said that when the women started singing he made an obvious display reading from a book that he held up in front of his face to show that he wasn’t listening.

“That way they could all see that I am not listening, my head is in the book, close to what matters,” he explained and instructed religious soldiers to do the same under similar circumstances.

According to religious tradition, if is forbidden for men to hear a woman sing solo, or at all if it is outside of a religious service.

The exclusion of women from musical performances to satisfy religious sensibilities is a controversial subject in Israel, with religious groups often pushing to have women barred from performing in public.

Yosef’s father, Ovadia Yosef, also a chief rabbi, was also known for making controversial statements at his Saturday night sermons, including derogatory comments about Arabs, Muslims and Holocaust victims.

Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef #racist timesofisrael.com

The Sephardic chief rabbi of Israel called black people “monkeys” during his weekly sermon on Saturday evening.

Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef was addressing Jewish legal aspects of the blessing on seeing fruit trees blossoming, during the current Hebrew month of Nissan, and, specifically, whether one should bless one tree or at least two.

In that context, he mentioned a blessing uttered upon seeing an “unusual creature,” citing the example of encountering a black person who has two white parents on the street in America.

In footage aired by the Ynet news site, Yosef could be seen referring to black people by the word “kushi,” which in modern Hebrew has pejorative connotations, and then going on to term a black person a “monkey.”

His office told Ynet that the comparison was a quote from the Talmud.

IDF taps chief rabbi who once seemed to permit wartime rape

Eyal Karim later retracted remarks; has also said women's enlistment is 'entirely forbidden,' opposes female singing at army events

Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot on Monday nominated a rabbi who once appeared to condone rape during wartime to take over as the IDF’s chief chaplain. Rabbi Col. Eyal Karim has also maintained that it is “entirely forbidden” for women to serve in the military for reasons of modesty and has opposed female singing at army events.

Karim was embroiled in controversy in 2012 for his response to a question posed to him (Hebrew link) on the religious website Kipa, asking in the light of certain biblical passages if IDF soldiers, for example, were permitted to commit rape during wartime despite the general understanding that such an act is widely considered repugnant.

In his response, Karim implied that such practices, among several others that were normally prohibited — including the consumption of nonkosher food — were permitted during battle.

“Although intercourse with a female gentile is very grave, it was permitted during wartime (under the conditions it stipulated) out of consideration for the soldiers’ difficulties,” he wrote. “And since our concern is the success of the collective in the war, the Torah permitted [soldiers] to satisfy the evil urge under the conditions it stipulated for the sake of the collective’s success.”

When the quote surfaced in 2012 and caused a media firestorm, he published a clarification stating that his comments were in no way meant to be applied in the modern era, but rather pertained to a theoretical discussion of the biblical permission for a Jewish soldier to kidnap an enemy woman and wed her.

“Obviously, in our times, when the world has advanced to a level of morality in which one does not marry captives, one must not perform this act, which is also entirely against the army’s values and orders,” he wrote.

The IDF on Monday responded to allegations against Karim, saying the colonel “wishes to clarify that his words were only uttered in response to a theoretical hermeneutical question, certainly not to a practical halachic question.

“Rabbi Karim never wrote, said, or even thought that an IDF soldier is permitted to sexually harm a woman during wartime,” the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit added in a statement.

On the matter of women’s enlistment, Karim wrote in 2002 that it was explicitly forbidden.

“In a situation such as the one during the War of Independence, in which there was a real pikuah nefesh [matter of life or death] of the Jewish people, women also participated in the defense of the nation and country, even though the situation was not so modest,” he wrote. “But in our era we do not live with a real threat to our survival.

“And because of the liable damage to the modesty of the girl and the nation, the great rabbis and the Chief Rabbinate have ruled that the enlistment of girls to the IDF is entirely forbidden.”

In 2011, Karim also wrote that women should not sing at army events. If women do perform, soldiers who object to attending the events on religious grounds should be allowed to skip, he added.

Several Israeli lawmakers decried Karim’s appointment.

Meretz party leader Zehava Galon said that Karim is not “suitable to be the rabbinic authority of the army, in which tens of thousands of women serve, and is not suitable to represent Jewish morality in any form.” She also condemned “his frightening, racist, and inflammatory statement” regarding wartime rape.

Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid urged Karim to disavow his remarks about women’s enlistment, saying that without a public statement to that effect “he cannot be the military chief rabbi.”

“Regarding the reports that he said that beautiful gentile women can be raped during wartime, it appears this is not his opinion,” Lapid continued. “But if he thinks this, not only may he not be the chief military rabbi, he can’t even be a rabbi.”

In addition to Karim, Eisenkot nominated another 12 colonels for promotion to brigadier general, pending the approval of Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman.

Vismooil’n and various other racists in Aalst #racist timesofisrael.com

JTA — I initially had some sympathy for the creators of an anti-Semitic carnival float in Belgium.

Studying their CVs and past creations for the annual carnival of Aalst, I saw that they were a group of some 20 upstanding citizens — a fireman, a technician, an Education Ministry official and a police department employee, to name a few. They had invested countless unpaid hours to produce something they thought was beautiful but ended up horrifying viewers all over the world.

Their creation, which they unveiled Sunday at Belgium’s most celebrated carnival, featured two huge puppets depicting pink-clad Haredi Orthodox Jews. One of them leers while smoking a cigar, a rat perched on his shoulder. Against a synagogue facade, the puppets have money bags at their feet. A platform following the float carried revelers dressed like the puppets who danced to a song about “bulging coffers” and “Jews getting extra fat.”

The float unleashed a storm of impassioned condemnations. The Simon Wiesenthal Center called the display “sickening.” B’nai B’rith International termed it “disgusting.” Both umbrella groups of Belgian Jews filed a federal complaint for incitement against the group, called Vismooil’n, saying the float looked like Nazi propaganda.

Even the European Commission slammed the display, with a spokesperson saying “It is unthinkable that such imagery is being paraded on European streets 70 years after the Holocaust.”

So I called up the lyricist behind the float’s song, Pascal Soleme, to ask why the group chose to create such imagery and whether the members had anticipated how offensive it would be to Jews.

I had hoped to introduce some nuance to what was condemned universally as crass racism. Were the creators aware that they were trafficking in anti-Semitic tropes? Did they get carried away in the aesthetics of the float without really considering the content? Was there a level of irony or parody an outsider couldn’t understand?

But rather than offering real explanations, or even expressing any regret for the fallout or trying to acknowledge where it came from, Soleme doubled down. The 52-year-old father of three, who works for the Aalst Police Department, said he thought the float was funny and cited the support of his mayor.

“Mayor Christoph D’Haese totally has our backs, he told us we’ve done nothing wrong,” Soleme told me. D’Haese even told the group that his office would cover any fine imposed by the authorities, Selome said.

D’Haese defended the Vismooil’n group, saying on Tuesday that its float was not intended to offend and that “such things should be allowed at the Aalst Carnaval.” The event was added in 2010 to UNESCO’s list of events that contribute to the “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.”

Filip de Vidts, a technician and the secretary of Vismooil’n, referred me to D’Haese for a reaction. Treasurer Johan de Plecker, who works for the Education Ministry, did not reply to my request for an interview.

As for Soleme, he has “absolutely no regrets” about participating in the display.

“I think the people who are offended are living in the past, of the Holocaust, but this was about the present,” he said. “There was never any intention to insult anyone. It was a celebration of humor.”

The Jewish theme, he said, was “because we weren’t sure we’d be doing a 2020 tour [because of rising costs]. So that would mean we’d be taking a sabbatical, and it went on from there.”

Vismooil’n named the float “Sabbat Jaar,” or “sabbath year,” which in Dutch primarily refers to the shmittah, the biblical sabbatical year in which Jews are commanded not to work the land. But it can also mean a general sabbatical.

In an interview with a blogger covering the Aalst Carnaval, an unnamed spokesperson for the group offered a similar explanation. (The blogger has since deleted the text.)

“Everything has become so expensive, [we thought that] if we do 2019, there would be no more money left for next year. So we all went quiet until we smartly decided to go for the Sabbath Year and that was that. So simple,” the member said.

It was a telling quote, according to Joel Rubinfeld, the president of the Belgian League Against Anti-Semitism, or LBCA.

“Prices are rising, so who do they blame? The fat, greedy Jew,” he said.

On a Facebook page of carnival enthusiasts, the protests around the float prompted a flood of anti-Semitic humor.

One blamed “the sad Jews, closed off from the rest of society in Antwerp, who have no sense of humor.” Another referred to Jews as “dick cutters,” adding they are “whiners with sausages for ears and woolly curls on their heads.” Commenting on Jewish anger over the float, another wrote: “Later you wonder why Jew hatred is growing —”

Some commenters resented criticism of the float, calling it an attempt to impose political correctness in the Flemish Region, a federal state of Belgium whose local language is Flemish Dutch. Aalst is in the region.

“As we host those guests, we are forbidden to celebrate our own culture on our own land,” someone named Guido Schokaert wrote in the Facebook discussion.

The Aalst carnival case is the latest example of how quickly and thoroughly institutional anti-Semitism can corrupt upstanding institutions, like the Aalst Carnaval (or Britain’s Labour Party).

“The problem is not the carnival,” Rubinfeld said. “What’s happening in recent years at the carnival is a symptom of a wider problem, which is the return of 1930s anti-Semitism, alongside the upgraded version that we’ve become used to, that targets Israel as a substitute for Jews and visa versa.”

The Vismooil’n float is not the first time that this return manifested itself at the carnival, which is the local edition of celebrations that take place throughout parts of Europe and the Americas annually in anticipation of Lent, the 40-day period before Easter.

In 2013, a different group designed an Aalst carnival float resembling a Nazi railway wagon used to transport Jews to death camps. The designers of the float, which was meant as a protest against nationalist Flemish politicians, marched dressed as Nazi SS officers and Haredi Orthodox Jews. A poster on the wagon showed Flemish Belgian politicians dressed as Nazis and holding canisters labeled as containing Zyklon B, the poison used by the Nazis to exterminate Jews in the gas chambers.

And in 2009, at least two participants dressed up as Orthodox Jews with fake hooked noses, a yellow star on their chests and an Arab shawl around their shoulders.

The Aalst parade this year also featured a group called Forza Witkap, whose members came dressed in the white gowns and pointy hoods of the Ku Klux Klan. Led by the far-right politician Guy D’haeseleer, its float, designed to resemble a brewery, had a poster reading “Superior White Beer.” A participant, colorfully clothed and wearing blackface, handed out chocolate mousse to cheering spectators.

Alongside other forms of anti-Semitism, largely linked to Israel, classic forms have re-emerged in such apolitical settings as European soccer matches, music festivals, the rap scene and cultural events like the Aalst carnival.

By Wednesday, more than 1,880 people had signed a petition on the Change.org platform to have the Aalst Carnaval removed from the UNESCO list of heritage of humanity events.

“It doesn’t scare me because it’s my reality,” Rubinfeld said. “But I do think it’s time for UNESCO to pull the Aalst Carnival from its list of heritage events. There’s an institutional problem here.”

even 60,000 liberal rabbis can not change the truth - the Torah forbids homosexuality. I prefer to say that their behaviour is perverted rather than calling them perverts.
pervert is defined:by google as
noun
p?rv?rt
1. a person whose sexual behavior is regarded as abnormal and unacceptable.
synonyms: deviant, degenerate;

and you might come to say that homosexuality has become normal and acceptable and I would say that, this is the problem. The Torah is against it and the Torah is the truth.

Very clever politically correct way to give approval to that which scripture specifically calls an abomination. You cannot have it both ways. God does not smile on sin no matter how happy you are. And to say God created you that way would make God a liar because He does not go against his own word. Don't believe those who congratulate and praise you. They are caught in a lie also and "when a blind man leads another blind man, they both fall into a ditch." Repent and be saved

Alain Soral #racist timesofisrael.com

A French court on Thursday sentenced far-right Holocaust denier Alain Soral to one year in prison for insulting a magistrate and making anti-Semitic comments on his website.

On the site, which is called “Equality and Reconciliation,” Soral wrote that Jews “are manipulative, domineering and hateful.”

Soral, 60, has been convicted multiple times of incitement to hatred over a constant stream of anti-Semitic comments over the years. His last conviction was in December in a defamation case. The Paris Court of Appeal fined him 4,000 euros ($4,500) for producing and selling on his website a poster targeting Jews.

“We will continue to prosecute Mr. Soral as long as he makes anti-Jewish remarks,” said attorney Ilana Soskin, representing the International League Against Racism and Anti-Semitism, which brought the latest complaint against Soral.

Soral was also sentenced for insulting a female magistrate, saying he had “never heard so many lies and dishonesty out of the mouth of a woman, and I have known prostitutes.”

The sentence marks the first serious punishment for the far-right provocateur, according to Richard Malka, an attorney representing the magistrate.

The French Union of Jewish Students tweeted praise for the court’s decision Thursday against “this little propagandist of hatred.”

In 2016, a French court slapped Soral with a $13,000 fine and a suspended prison sentence of six months for saying the Nazis should have finished killing the Jews of Europe.

The sentence was over Soral’s Facebook post a year earlier about Serge and Beate Klarsfeld, two anti-racism activists who helped track down dozens of Nazi war criminals.

“This is what happens when you don’t finish the job,” Soral wrote about an article on a state honor conferred on the Klarsfelds by Germany.

A judge found Soral, who has long been a well-known writer on the French far-right and an ally of the anti-Semitic comedian Dieudonne M’bala M’bala, guilty of “justifying war crimes and crimes against humanity.” It marked only one of Soral’s multiple convictions for minimizing or mocking the Holocaust.

The judge also ordered Soral to pay 5,000 euros, or about $5,600, to each of the Klarsfelds and 2,000 euros, or $2,250, to the International League against Racism and Anti-Semitism, which then too filed the complaint against Soral.

They are liars, they conjure up lies, they lie against their own bodies, their own parents, their educated doctors, and then demand everyone else believe their lies, speak their lies, and change laws to accommodate their lives, impose upon business owners, military and schools who must shower in front of them, to make vast expenditures to accommodate their lies, impose the demand that someone of the opposite sex has access to their restroom so they can peek through the cracks in the doors, change society, and in the end, because they, in truth, cannot make their owns lies work for themselves they demand the right to have our children for themselves to make them as depraved liars as they are.

Think: Navy personnel must shower, sleep, and dress in front of them knowing they are being eyed by them. Our school children are in the same situation for physical education classes. And then they demand positions of authority in these environments. They set no boundaries for themselves to what extent they are willing to demand we go along with their lies and demand we keep a straight face. They do WHAT? They put what into their mouths? And who washes the feces off of whose body part? And which comes first? These are the things that come to mind when I am told, “I’m Gay, and proud of it and I am ready to meet my Maker.” I don’t want these thoughts and I do not want to process the resulting response.

The truth is, if they could make their own society successfully fulfilled, without demanding anything from anyone else, truth would be revealed at the end of one generation and all would witness a dead society, a dead culture, and all remaining would learn from them. When they die...it will be over.

Lara Kollab #racist timesofisrael.com

A hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, said it has fired a doctor after it emerged that she had been making anti-Semitic remarks for years on social media.
Lara Kollab, 27, of Westlake, was a supervised resident at Cleveland Clinic from July until September 2018.
In November, the Canary Mission website published a compilation of dozens of her tweets — dating from 2011 to 2017 — in which she called for violence against Jews, called them “dogs,” minimized the Holocaust, likened Israel to the Nazi regime and claimed Zionists control US media and schools.
“This individual was employed as a supervised resident at our hospital from July to September 2018,” the hospital said in a statement Sunday carried by local media. “She is no longer working at Cleveland Clinic.
“In no way do these beliefs reflect those of our organization. We fully embrace diversity, inclusion and a culture of safety and respect across our entire health system.”
The statement didn’t state outright that Kollab had been dismissed as a result of her posts.
Kollab’s Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn accounts have been deactivated.
On January 2, 2012, she wrote that she would “purposely give all the yahood the wrong meds,” using the Arabic word for Jews. She also repeatedly expressed hope that “Allah will kill the Jews.”
In December of that year, she responded to a Twitter user who said “Peace won’t come by killing every Zionist. There has to be diplomacy” by writing: “After repeated failed diplomacy, our aim is to defeat the Zionist state through force.”
In October 2012 she said the Holocaust was “exaggerated and the victimization of the jews (ignoring the others killed) is overdone,” and that she was having “a REALLY hard time feeling bad about Holocaust seeing as the ppl who were in it now kill my ppl.”
A BDS supporter, Kollab has also defended the Hamas terror group and said that “jewish settlers in palestine are the descendants of the nazis.”
Kollab hasn’t issued a response to the reports about her.

Khaled al-Mughrabi, Abd Al-Mun’im Abu Zant, Daoud Shihad, Khaled Zaafrani, and Miftah #racist timesofisrael.com

An Islamic preacher on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem told congregants that the Nazis burned the Jews of Europe during the Holocaust because they had been kidnapping children to use their blood in Passover bread. He also claimed that Jews worship Satan, plotted the 9/11 attacks, and control the Freemasons who sacrifice their wives and children in secret ceremonies. An English translation of the sermon, that was captured on video, was provided on Monday by Palestinian Media Watch, a non-governmental media monitoring organization.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center sent a letter to Jordan’s King Abdullah and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas urging them to “immediately take action against Sheikh Khaled al-Mughrabi, the religious teacher at the Al-Aqsa Mosque who is on the payroll of the Waqf [the PA religious authority], for using his class to promote the infamous blood libel screed that ‘explains’ why the Nazi Holocaust took place. The ‘Blood Libel’ is a Christian medieval canard that accuses Jews of using the blood of children to make Passover matzah,” the center said in a statement sent out to the press.

“The Temple Mount is a site of ultimate religious importance to Judaism and revered also by both Christianity and Islam. It should be an area that promotes peace, tolerance, and mutual understanding. However, the Al Aqsa Mosque has now been used to repeat horrific lies and legitimize genocide. Left unchallenged, the Sheik’s ‘sermon’ will only spawn more hatred and violence,” the letter to Abdullah and Abbas read.

During the recent sermon captured on video, al-Mughrabi says: “On the holiday of Passover it is ?forbidden for them to eat regular bread. These matzahs ?[unleavened Passover bread] were not kneaded in the regular way, but rather with the blood of children. In the end it reached the point ?where they were burned in Germany, because of these things, because they ?kidnapped young children.”

In the video, al-Mughrabi, who gives twice weekly lesson on Islam at the mosque in Jerusalem, is seen listing alleged evils of the Jewish people that run a gamut of both classic and modern anti-Semitic accusations spanning centuries, cultures, and continents.

Al-Mughrabi begins by explaining that of the multiple gods that Jews worship, Satan ranks above the Muslim god Allah. “They have smaller gods, from one to nine,? and they have gods who are stronger than Allah, from 11 to 34,” al-Mughrabi. “Devil or Satan is ?number 11 for them. If you look at history, my brothers, you’ll see that the number 11 is ?holy for the Jews, and 666 is also a holy number, three times six signifies the Devil.?”

“Everything they wish to ?happen, or that they want to do and succeed at, they try to make happen on the 11th of ?the month— Therefore, notice the attacks on America [9/11] that took place. When were they? On the 11th of the month. Why? Because ?who was behind them? — It’s known that the Jews were behind them.” Al-Mughrabi then explains that the US film industry — “owned by the ?Children of Israel” — promotes through vampire films a theme that drinking human blood gives eternal life. It is because of this belief in the power of blood that Jews use the blood of children for their Passover bread, he claims.

“The Children of Israel had the holiday of Pesach, ?what is now called Passover,” al-Mughrabi said. “Every holiday, every group would look for a small child, ?kidnap and steal him, bring a barrel called the barrel of nails— They would put the ?small child in the barrel and his body would be pierced by these nails. In the bottom of ?the barrel they would put a faucet and pour the blood— The Devil or one of the big ?gods, demanded it of them as a condition for fulfilling their wishes, that they eat ??[matzah] bread kneaded with the blood of children.”

“When these ?stories were exposed, the Children of Israel were expelled from all of Europe and the ?tragedy of the Children of Israel began in all Europe.” The sheikh then claimed that proof of his allegations can easily be found on the Internet with a simple search using Google. “Even though there is a news blackout about ?them, they are on the Internet,” he says. Freemasons, he went on, are “witchcraft gatherings of the ?Children of Israel.”

“One of the ceremonies, for instance if someone wants to be ?accepted as a new member, or rise in rank— he has to somehow bring one of his sons ?or daughters, or his wife or one of his male or female relatives, and put them on the ?table and slaughter them with his own hands as a sacrifice to Satan, in order to rise in ?the ranks of the Freemasons. My brothers, this exists until today.?”

The myth of blood baked into matzah, known as ‘the blood libel,’ dates back to the Middle Ages in Europe, and was often used as a pretext to commit atrocities against Jewish communities. The false allegation is still believed in some Arab cultures and is occasionally cited by officials and public figures. In September 2014 Sheikh Abd Al-Mun’im Abu Zant, a former Jordanian MP revived the blood libel in an interview with al-Aqsa TV.

“On their religious holidays, if they cannot find a Muslim to slaughter, and use drops of his blood to knead the matzos they eat, they slaughter a Christian in order to take drops of his blood, and mix it into the matzos that they eat on that holiday,” Abu Zant said. In July 2014 Palestinian Islamic Jihad spokesman Daoud Shihad said that Israeli rabbis told IDF soldiers to knead the blood of Arabs into their dough.

“Israel is targeting the Palestinians— I would just like to remind you of the ruling by the Israeli rabbis, who have instructed the soldiers to knead the [dough for] the bread that the Jews eat with the blood of Arab and Palestinian children,” Shihad said during an interview on Lebanon’s Mayadeen TV, as reported by the Washington-based Middle East Media Research Institute.

A year earlier, in May 2013, Egyptian politician Khaled Zaafrani, during an interview on al-Hafez TV, a Salafist Egyptian station, also brought up the blood libel. “It is well-known that during Passover they make matzos called the ‘Blood of Zion.’ They take a Christian child, slit his throat, and slaughter him—they never forgo this rite.”

In April 2013, a Palestinian nonprofit organization removed an article from its website that accused Jews of using “the blood of Christians in the Jewish Passover.” The Miftah organization, founded by Palestinian lawmaker Hanan Ashrawi and funded by European and Western governments, reportedly apologized for publishing the article, after first refusing to apologize and condemning the Jewish bloggers who drew attention to the article.

Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, Mohammad Golpaigani, Yeni Safak and Turkish media outlets #conspiracy timesofisrael.com

Senior Iranian officials claimed Tuesday the independence referendum in Iraqi Kurdistan a day earlier was a “plot” orchestrated by Israel and the United States.

“The Zionist regime and the world arrogance [US] are behind this issue,” the semi-official Fars News Agency quoted the head of the Iranian armed forces, General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri as saying on Tuesday.

Although Bagheri did not elaborate on Israel’s alleged role, the chief of staff to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei claimed the independence referendum was a “Zionist plot” meant to fuel violence in the Middle East following the battlefield defeats in Iraq and Syria suffered by the Islamic State terror group.

“You may rest assured that it is a plot by the Zionist regime under such conditions that the ISIL is collapsing,” Fars quoted Mohammad Golpaigani as saying, using an alternative acronym for IS. Among numerous conspiracy theories posted on Arabic-language and Persian sites are claims that Israel’s Mossad agency is behind the rise of Islamic State.

“Now they have raised a new issue in the region,” he added. “[The] referendum and its related issues will cause many problems for the Kurds and the neighboring countries.”

In addition to the claims from top Iranian officials Israel is behind the independence vote, Turkish nationalists have said the referendum is meant to create a “second Israel.” Yeni Safak, a conservative Turkish newspaper loyal to Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has pointed to the presence of Israeli flags alongside “so-called Kurdish flags” at rallies organized by the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and claimed that the referendum was part of a Zionist plot.

“Israel, using Masoud Barzani and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorist organization as pawns, seeks to obtain the area between the Nile and Euphrates, which is regarded as ‘the promised land’ in the Torah,” said an article entitled “Barzani plans to deliver ‘promised land’ to Israel.”

It added, “Zionists call the ‘Kurdistan’ that Barzani and the PKK want to establish as ‘Kurdo-Judaic,’ the ‘Jewish Kurdistan.’”

Earlier this month, Turkish media published conspiracy theories claiming that Israel was planning to repatriate Israeli Jews of Kurdish origin to Kurdistan after the referendum.
