Friendly notification that due to increased demand for energy for AI, the cult of global warming has been tossed aside…
It makes you think that the ‘existential threat’ of ‘global boiling’ was just another conspiracy theory.

Can you cite any place where the person SAYING climate change is a threat to human existence is the same person dedicating the output of 1.34 coal plants to an AI center?
OR is it the same people profiting from ignoring climate change in the before time as now? Might put a little bit of a framework on your shallow, knee-jerk comparison, there.
The dot.com bubble - after that burst - just left a whole load of Geocities hubs etc & now forgotten domains.
Once the same happens to AI, it’s not just going to result in a whole load of empty warehouses, OP.
There’s still a whole load of craptocurrency mining GPUs gathering dust in Temu warehouses etc.
My corporate bosses encourage us to use AI to write procedures and descriptive text and checklists. It’s suggested. If it’s ever required, I’ll retire that day.
I mean, these are the same people that fired so many of our editors because they thought that we could just use spell-checker and grammar programs instead. Now the lines for the remaining editors are measured in days, and it’s not because they’re out getting a pedicure…
Friendly notification that rich people can do two bad things at once - even contradictory things, if both make them more money.
It makes me think you'll willingly stand in the line labeled Get Shot Here, laugh and cheer while everyone else is shot - and then still be astonished when they get to you.
“Global boiling”? Is that the climate denialists’ version of the flerfs’ “Spinning ball theory”? It sounds even sillier, because taken literally, it’s extremely unlikely that humanity would ever output enough carbon to veneraform¹ Earth to the point where the oceans start boiling off, even if we moved deep underground to avoid extinction and still kept burning every last bit of fossil fuel we reasonably could. I mean, deep underground, you’d expect geothermal and nuclear to be the most viable options, and there may not even be enough fossil fuels to go quite that far, anyway. There’s a pretty huge gap between “unsurvivable” and “actually boiling”.
¹Veneraform = “making the environment more Venus-like”, in the same way terraform can mean “making it more Earth-like”. In case anyone cares, the equivalent for Mars is areaform. Jupiter would likely be joviaform, though I have no idea why anyone would do that. Not sure about other planets.
Wild inconsideration for a problem doesn’t mean the problem doesn’t exist especially when the inconsiderate one and the MANY trying to warn the idiot they’re shooting themselves and everyone else in the foot are different people with very different priorities and one does not give a shit if the others live or die. Like an old timey industrialist who wants money today and the preteens losing their fingers in unsafe factories who would really rather have fingers tomorrow. The industrialist always thinks there’s going to be more kids with fingers. There won’t be, and then there won’t be any money for the industrialist and a lot of people who can’t work any more their entire adult lives because of that industrialist cutting the workforce as a whole across a country creating a population that is a majority impoverished physically handicapped dependants. That is the dumbest take I’ve ever heard and my GOD the bar for that around here.
Confused?
