A gay friend of mine was a lot into religion (Catholicism) and theology, was married, had children. He doesn't regret having children, but remembers that his ideal was unattainable because of conditioned guilt. Knowledge led him to atheism (I remember debating with him when I was still a believer), his marriage failed and he decided to live his life. He's had two long term monogamous partners since and although he did try the gay sauna experience at some point it didn't please him. He never was in that alleged bar scene. Although anecdotal, this does suggest that the scientific consensus is right. When I ask him if he considers himself bi, he tells me that he's not, although he once was, out of convenience and necessity. He told me that he wasn't himself and was in denial at the time. His previous boyfriend self identified his orientation as bisexual though, even if he was in a stable same-sex relationship many years. Instead of deciding who people are, simply feel free to ask them, and stop lying in their back...

So another viewpoint to this. After the development of agriculture, when more humans were living and working together and cities were developing under elites, it's not difficult to imagine that some conflicts were over women, especially at a time when they had few to no rights and were considered property under those ancient semitic cultures. In a modern context, a woman could say no, possibly also because she's involved in a relationship she considers important in a couple agreeing to monogamy. Unless she's raped, or unless the circumstances of that couple change, a no would mean no. It doesn't mean that desire or attraction for other women never existed or would not exist today, of course. And in a more advanced society, if they are consenting adults, it is ridiculous to appeal to an ancient collection of sayings, taken out of context. In a modern context, death by sex would usually be from STDs and there are methods to mitigate that and education for awareness, that protects everyone, not only men or women. And a honor crime is recognized as such today.
