0.9... = 1
I really do believe that. No, I won't perform your suggested calculator exercise, as it is irrelevant to the issue. Any finite truncation of 0.9... is a number less than 1, and entering an infinitely long number into a regular calculator is more than a bit tricky.
If you think 0.9... and 1 are not identical, perhaps you could explain the flaw in Bastethotep's math in #78713. I hope you would agree that 0.3... = 1/3. Additionally. this page explains the math well if a bit antagonistically, or see this article on Wikipedia.
If you built a computer that recognized .9 to infinity as 1, every bit of it’s mathematical capabilities will be lost.
Not true. But, a computer that can store an infinite string of digits is impossible, so it doesn't matter.
