If I didn’t know who this was from, and how it’s not a thing he usually does, I’d wonder if this was satire.
Anyway, though, I’ve known plenty of Christian folks who, at least to me, seemed to be pretty devout (and weren’t the types to “fly gay flags”), but definitely knew how to make things way better than “gruel and slop!” Just for one example, I used to sometimes go to the free “community church dinners” that they have at various churches around my area. Sometimes the food was nothing to write home about, but the church that hosted it on Friday, damn they always had some good stuff. One time they were serving beef stew and chicken noodle soup…doesn’t sound too exciting maybe, but I swear, to this day, that was the best damn beef stew and chicken noodle soup I’ve ever had, lol.
