Darwin meant “fittest” as “most able to function in some way in an ecosystem” (i.e. fitting in a niche), not “most powerful”. Herbert Spencer was the main advocate of ill-named Social Darwinism, and it’s not likely you needed atheism to pick it up. Certainly not back then with eugenics not being atheist-only. In fact, I suspect the whole point of the infamous Might is Right pamphlet was to satirize Social “Darwinism” by showing it as incompatible with the ideals of both Testaments, however much (the typically upper-classes) adherents of Spencer thought otherwise.

There’s also the whole “personal relationship, not religion” conceit, cone to think of it. Probably defining religion there in terms of demanding unquestioning acceptance of The Rules, and seeing fundagelicalism as exempt because it’s about accepting salvation (via self-enslavement…) instead.

That’s certainly how the Calvinist interpretation of Total Depravity works. Only God can really be deemed innately virtuous; everything else (even cherubim, I expect) is a vice elemental unless controlled by God, which effectively still leaves him as the only virtuous actor around.

Never mind that particularly with Vincent Cheung-grade prelapsarians, I’m not sure how they parallel God and human thought. Although I swear Cheung himself thinks there isn’t really any such thing as flux (he says God doesn’t actually think…despite having a will he’d need thoughts to arrive at to begin with…as he’s already perfect, everything’s preordained from everlasting to everlasting…You see the problem, right?).

Ephesians 6:12 was more likely about the Roman Empire, and its animating ideas. Paul’s point was that even if an imperator or governor died (whether by old age or your hand or other), the will to keep the Empire running would just send a new imperator/governor to fill the vacancy. The real thing to quell was empire’s justifications—not physical persons, but ideas that were about as physical as breeze and shadow, but still plenty influential.

With my luck, he’ll claim it was instilled in humanity not by divine sculpture, but by partaking of the Tree of Knowledge. i.e. God didn’t want us to have Free Will, only Lucifer did. Although I genuinely have no idea whether he’d say the cherubim have Free Will or not, as well as whether they should. The attitude would logically settle on only God rightly having Free Will (i.e. not even Jesus nor any of the cherubim), but only one entity with agency is effectively the same as none having agency. God wouldn’t really have any unpredictable persons to get new concepts or angles from.

More likely a belief that the double standard is actually divine mandate. Essentially using “God’s ways are not our ways” as an all-purpose way to excuse injustice as actually One True Justice. (It was actually meant to portray El as level-headed and not incensed by every aggravation as compared to your typical thin-skinned ruler in Mesopotamia or the Levant.)
