Attwood’s Jekyll-and-Hyde situation was basically about autistic children venting (severely) at home because they found it much safer to do so there than in public. The adults at home would at least be more likely to take their frustrations seriously. In modern parlance, it’s born of stress from having to mask as allistic/-adjacent so much. (I must have been fortunate in facing no sneering in high school while making no secret of my autism.)

Misinterpreting the Jekyll-and-Hyde situation like this makes me worry for her treatment of allistic children (if not allistic people in general) as well.

As long as you don’t go much further back than 10,000 years, maybe. Notice that Lemuria was supposed to have sunk 26,000 years ago, and Atlantis 8,000. The idea is that compared to those (putative) paradises, we’re still not much to speak of. Just don’t ask me what the hallmarks of Lemuria and pre-corruption Atlantis were supposed to be. Psionics? Cherubim walking/flying in their midst as equals? (I don’t think the light-years heights in texts like 1 Enoch, or at least its contemporaries, have much foundation in the Tanakh proper?) Lifespans of 800 years or so? Total absence of infectious disease? Other?

We’re definitely looking at someone who thinks that without direct divine control, getting tough and prickly (e.g. ready and able to deploy arms against a malefactor at a moment’s notice) is the only actual correct answer to the world’s travails.

That this goes against any idea of kindness being a virtue (because then God would succor it, not tacitly disdain it) apparently hasn’t occurred to him.

But come to think of it, Trump is “only” about 14 years older than Root. Not quite the same generation, but them imbibing on similar philosophical toxins at the same time isn’t particularly out there. And we all know how little stock Trump puts in the non-criminal, I trust.

Just to clarify to anyone jumping in after the headline, he’s calling the awareness week “demonic”, for encouraging any sort of self-identification beyond “ardent Christian”. Although I can imagine it being a symptom of not seeing autism (or other things that get discrete awareness periods) as anything other than a bane. Suggest an Allistic Awareness Week to him, and see how he reacts to that. Should be instructive.

The pre-serpent call to multiply honestly sounds more like an exhortation than a command. (And come to think of it, maybe the call to subjugate the land was in the sense of “subjugate it out of the other gods’ hands”–away from Hadad, Marduk, etc.) But when it comes to fundagelicals, I suspect they think God just wants still more potential voices for his eternal ~~daemon piper~~ chorus.

Probably not an especially severe sentence though. Certainly not perdition. Don’t presume Anselm of Canterbury was correct in saying that any mismatch with God’s will, however slight, required multiply infinite perdition (he was running off of 10th century feudal European assumptions of repaying both physical injury and dignity injury; not much sense at the time that that hadn’t always been the way of law, even with the Old Testament perfectly accessible to him.).

EDIT: Wait, why is he including asexual as somehow ungodly? Jesus was asexual, yes? Good chance for Paul, too. So, what’s the issue? Or did he just copy a pro-LGBT+ day list without actually reading through it?
