The weird thing is, paedophilia is legal. Paedophilia is sexual attraction towards kids; it’s actually doing anything sexual regarding kids that is illegal.

Some of the problems people have with perceiving this come from certain religious people’s attitude towards homosexuality. They define homosexuality as an act, or a series of acts. Hence you have ‘ex-gay’ types who are celibate, or frantically concentrating on something else while with an opposite-sex partner, who kid themselves that they are not gay because they are not having gay sex. Or evangelists like Bryan Fischer, Scott Lively and Roosh, all of whom have made their true attraction obvious. While such people are no doubt dangerous to other gays as well as themselves, as long as the division between sexual attractions and sexual acts is muddied in the public eye there will never be a proper social programme for the treatment of paedophilia.
