It's a slippery slope in real life. If you can use person X, convicted of hideous crimes, as a slave, eventually your prison system winds up using person Y, convicted of jaywalking, as a slave because someone is profiting, and that's before we get into false convictions. Prison needs to be rehab, not punishment, and unfortunately it's been sliding towards vengeance at least in America.
