Comments on the winners, in order to help future readers to understand these entries. I’ve added honourable mentions when runner-up earned scores less than 0.5 of the winner.
Religious fundie of the year: Rev. Paul Mackenzie (https://fstdt.com/B7Z$F$6N4QWC5) “won” the title with a score of 4.80, well above other contestants (including an official who gave a prize for attempting to kill Rushdie), because you can’t be more religiously extreme than leading a starvation cult which killed more than 440, including children. Once again, the “prize” was won by someone who did deadly harm to third parties.
Wingnut of the year: various commenters from gab (https://fstdt.com/JRYD2.FPNLWV6) won the “prize” with 4.75 for writing that “overnment terrorism” is the only thing which prevents them from doing lynchings. Honourable mention to the Bolsonarists who won a score of 4.50 for their Brazilian remake of January 6.
Moonbat of the year : Once again, Kim Jong Un (https://fstdt.com/W.Z$9HY3HM.$K) “won” the title with 4.60 for advocating sending North Korean children to work in coal mines and construction sites to shield them from foreign influence. I don’t think that overworking children to death will improve North Korean fertility rates. And no, “Children Yearn for the Mines” shouldn’t be followed in either capitalist of Communist polities… Honourable mention to the one who attempted to gaslight us into thinking that calling to gas chambers for Jews isn’t anti-Semitic.
Conspiracy theorist of the year: Overwhelming “victory” for Georgia GOP Chair Kandiss Taylor (https://fstdt.com/CDL.ZZKK8.0K), who earned her score of 4.80 for blaming a nefarious conspiracy for Flat Earthism being held as ridiculous. She’s planning to run next year as an ultra-MAGA candidate for Congress against the one who wanted Greenland to be renamed “Red, White and Blueland.”
Ableist of the year : The first Feynman and Coulter's Love Child quote posted on FSTDT went straight to the Top 100 for vicious rape apologism, so it was fitting that one of his last submitted quotes (https://fstdt.com/W88853CDXXHP6) ended up with a well-earned “reward”, with a score of 4.25. As his blog has been deleted for violating content guidelines, we will no longer be graced with his hatred toward anyone who wasn’t an old-stock British Canadian, Christian, straight, cisgender, abled male. Honourable mention for RFK Jr for comparing the so-called “autism epidemic” to the Holocaust.
Racist of the year: As a further evidence of the harm of hate speech and those medias specialising in peddling hatred, Joseph Czuba earned his score of 4.75 (https://fstdt.com/HYFQF$DG4BQ89), along with 53 years in prison, for murdering the 6-year-old son of his Palestinian American tenant after talk media spoke about a “national day of jihad.” Honourable mentions to the Daghestani pogromists and the Florida State Board of Education apologists for slavery.
Sexist of the year: Andrew Anglin “won” this year with a score of 4.50 for his advocacy of Axolotl cuves as an alrernative to women existing in society (https://fstdt.com/$BXWF5C_89BW3), proving once again that sexism and racism are deeply linked. Honourable mentions to lesbian-king-kai for wanting to murder every homeless male.
Mammonist grifter of the year: Everyone won the prize with scores of 3.80, as it was difficult to decide between Donald J. Trump (https://fstdt.com/P_Z7T6CVJM3K8) selling his “MugShot Edition”, Marc Saint-Onge and John Altshuler (https://fstdt.com/9HPX5W.26YS2K) selling “fulvic acid” (i.e. dirt filled with heavy metals), the Freedom Law School (https://fstdt.com/D7DG8733QGKTK) for peddling SovCit garbage and Lothlorian Magick (https://fstdt.com/S6H4.3NKFGSPG) for claiming to help to hunt treasures. If we were to narrow down to the number of WTD received, Trump and the Freedom Law School should win, and further narrowing to the number of comments would see the Freedom Law School “win” the title - don’t try to plead a capital case after reading law in this “school.”
Heteronormative crusader of the year: Criminal law is the body of law relating to crimes, meaning actions a society deems harmful; the highest punishment that criminal law can realistically provide is the death penalty. As such, the highest level of heteronormativity that a society can achieve is achieved by making homosexuality a capital crime, as done by the “winners” of this year, Yoweri Museveni et other Ugandan MPs (https://fstdt.com/H2HYM_JPS4PJK) who passed the Anti-Homosexuality Act, 2023. Honourable mention to the Léona Niassène mob for grave desecration, proving that heteronormativity was, to them, bigger than basic respect to the dead.
Forced-birth advocate of the year: As for my remarks about criminal law made above, the highest degree of societal opposition to abortion is shown by making it a capital offense, as advocated by State Representative Rob Harris (R) and 21 other South Carolina State Representatives (https://fstdt.com/R.PH_XY723GKC), who won a score of 4.75. Fortunately, the bill hasn’t passed.
Vogon Poet Loonerate of the year: Gisele Gurney, Brynn Miche and Jimbo Zoomer (https://fstdt.com/X4X2DGGGQK6ZC), who earned a score of 4.25 for their incelcore songs praising mass killers, school shooters, slutshame rape victims and advocate suicide. Honourable mention to Bennett Lee Ross, a habitual customer: keep up the good work!
Quack of the year: Tammy Nichols and Judy Boyle (https://fstdt.com/YN3LQZXWX3DHK) have earned a perfect 5.00, more than some actual murderers on the list of winners, for wanting to ban Covid-19 mRNA vaccine in Idaho. Were I an Inquisitor in Warhammer 40k, I would have purged them for being Nurgle cultists. Once again, ignorance should never been allowed to get elected.
Magnetic crank of the year: Andrew Stiles, Washington Free Beacon for his word redefinition work (https://fstdt.com/TV66C3_X4SJRB). For sure, his score of 4.67 will not help him to be hired to work for the Merriam-Webster, Inc.
One-liner of the year: Jesse Lee Peterson (https://fstdt.com/JJTVT8V5GLC6B) won a perfect 5.00 for his quote, who’s the embodiement of fanaticism. As wrote Voltaire, “whoever can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities” and the kind of men who want his thinking to be done by other is exactly the kind of henchmen who will end being involved in committing brutalities upon receiving the orders.
Chicken little award: Gracie (https://fstdt.com/DNF5) won a 4.75 for predicting “man-on-car marriage” for 2021 and the end of times for 2023 among other erroneous predictions.
