I went on WhiteDate, wondering if maybe for once the white identitarian community had finally created something for themselves that truly wasn’t hateful or offensive… and at this point I’ve concluded it’s probably impossible. They have a bunch of Jew-bashing articles on their site, including one that claims Russia and Putin are controlled by the Jews, and another one complaining about how a white Jewish woman was able to use their site to research white identity politics while writing a book.

I’m probably going to submit the one about Russia and Jews, it’s honestly amusing.

How did this make it into Newsweek? I heard their owners hold some unfortunate opinions… but it’s not the owners of a newspaper who put forth articles like this, it’s the employees. Someone in the company saw this writing and decided it was an okay thing to publish. There were editors and managers who saw this and could have complained to someone about it, but didn’t. It scares me to think that hateful nonsense like this could make it into the mainstream again if no one speaks up.

My question is: is hosting open hatred in mainstream publications becoming more acceptable, or was this just an operational failure on the part of the newspaper people? Both options are scary.

Yes, that’s also correct. The vaunted FBI crime numbers are just an artifact of where people live and what their conditions are. I have said it before here, but I think about half of the pseudoscience-abusing racists that get posted here are easy to debunk if you’ve taken a statistics class, or even a statistics unit in a regular math class.

It’s particularly mind-boggling because the racists have recently have been circulating a map, one which even appeared in another recent fundie post, showing the exact effect you described, and they still don’t get it. Black and Hispanic people typically live in more mixed areas, whereas white areas are generally populated by a large white majority. (This is due to the ongoing effects of decades of segregation.) Our guy here didn’t put two and two together as to how that could have skewed the data.

The weight difference between carbon dioxide and air is so small that air currents and temperature gradients matter more.

There’s already carbon dioxide in the air floating around because Earth’s atmosphere is a heterogenous mixture to begin with for the precise reason that gases of somewhat different weights can float among each other. Air is mostly nitrogen and partially oxygen and they don’t separate cleanly, although the oxygen stays a little lower on average.
