I believe the exact phrase is “You’ll own nothing, and you’ll be happy”, and it comes from a caption in a video produced by the World Economic Forum.
People take it to the extremes with the Illuminati/NWO shit, but it *is* true that a lot of companies are pushing the “service model” over the “product model”, in which instead of customers buying goods which they can then treat as they please, they are instead sold products “as a service”, i.e. they include some kind of subscription model or otherwise require a recurring payment to access full functionality.

Not only does it raise questions about ownership, but the “service model” also has bad implications for the right to repair, with customers being locked into a specific technical ecosystems and/or forbidden in the “Terms of Service” from making third-party repairs or modifications. This also generates more e-waste as people chuck away stuff instead of getting it repaired for cheap.
