Edited to add: I worked as an election officer in Northern Virginia for several years, and everyone involved was deeply invested in keeping the process accurate and honest. Accusations of cheating are as infuriating as they are malicious.

My idiot aunt didn't believe in vaccines, and her son lost his hearing completely at the age of six after a bout of scarlet fever.

Even when kids do survive illness, the aftereffects can be devastating. Two family members survived polio but were permanently crippled. My mother had a heart murmur after back-to-back scarlet fever and whooping cough when she was two, before vaccines were available.

Vaccines prevent disabilities as well as death, you vulture!
