I know of some cases where he made videos with negative titles shitting on the movie/show he’s reviewing but that he changed later on to be less insulting because said movie/show was actually garnering a quite positive reception from others. He also constantly complains about modern movies being all awful but never reviews stuff outside shit like Marvel and blockbusters, and all his “criticisms” are just your average CinemaSins surface level plot critique. CD never speaks about stuff like shot composition and editing. IMO he is as much of a grifter as one can be.

The fact he’s so popular had also eluded me for a long time, but now I believe I’ve found the reason why: simply because he validates the existence and views of the kind of profoundly shitty incels that make up his audience. I'll be honest, reading all those statements being made by a freaking real philosopher makes me question myself and my own self-worth sometimes. I'm a dumbass college kid, who am I compared to an academic like this guy? I have had some friends reassure me before, and point out to me that just because someone is an "intellectual" that it doesn't mean they can't be full of shit (like Jordan Peterson). But no matter how many times they try and comfort me, when I'm feeling down this feeling of insecurity comes flowing right up again and it torments me to no end.
